Job description:


1. Work closely with Chola and ASI offices in Delhi and Chennai to develop project plans and timelines for the conservation and restoration of heritage monuments adopted under Adopt a monument 2.0

2. Conduct site visits to assess the condition of monuments, identify structural issues, and propose appropriate engineering solutions.

3. Understand detailed engineering designs, specifications, and cost estimates for conservation projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

4. Coordinate with architectural and structural consultants, as well as heritage conservation experts, to integrate engineering solutions with broader conservation objectives.

5. Oversee the implementation of civil engineering works on-site, ensuring quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to project schedules.

6. Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, contractors, and craftsmen involved in conservation activities.

7. Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and take proactive measures to address them in a timely manner.

8. Prepare progress reports, technical documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external partners.

9. Foster positive relationships with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to garner support for conservation efforts and promote heritage awareness.

10. Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in heritage conservation and civil engineering, and incorporate them into project designs and methodologies.


Candidate Requirements:


  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. If having Master's degree, it is even better.
  2. 5 years of experience in archeology conservation, preferably with experience in civil engineering aspects.
  3. Proficiency in English, Tamil, and Hindi languages.
  4. Strong knowledge of archeological conservation principles, techniques, and methodologies.
  5. Familiarity with relevant regulations and guidelines related to historical preservation and conservation.
  6. Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  8. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of conservation.
  9. Willingness to travel to archeological sites and project locations as required.


Salary:


Consolidated pay of Rs.13 – 15 lakhs per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Location – Currently Chennai, Kanchipiuram and Mahabalipuram – can be expanded in the future.
