Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate Backend Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this hybrid role based in Mumbai (with remote flexibility), you’ll design and build robust backend services, APIs, and dashboards that power travel and rental experiences. You’ll work with Next.js, Node.js, SQL databases, and cloud platforms (AWS & Azure) to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs.
  • Build and optimize Next.js APIs and SSR components for internal/external dashboards.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries for high-performance data access.
  • Collaborate with frontend/mobile teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Integrate with third-party systems (GDS, OTA, bus/train APIs, payments, CRM tools).
  • Deploy, monitor, and maintain applications on AWS and Azure cloud environments.
  • Ensure scalability, high availability, and performance across backend services.
  • Implement security best practices for sensitive data (payments, user identity, rental credit score).
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend performance bottlenecks.
  • Continuously explore new tools/technologies to enhance backend efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in backend software development.
  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript with proficiency in Node.js.
  • Experience with Next.js (API routes, SSR, ISR, middleware).
  • Proficiency in SQL — query optimization, indexing, and schema design.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure cloud services (compute, storage, databases, CI/CD).
  • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases, caching, and event-driven architectures is a plus.
  • Knowledge of travel-tech systems (GDS/OTA APIs, booking engines, payments) is an advantage.
  • Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to thrive in a collaborative startup environment.
