Role Overview

XDLINX Space Labs is seeking a Senior Structural Simulation Engineer to lead the structural design, simulation, and validation of spacecraft systems. The role requires expertise in finite element analysis (FEA), dynamic simulations, and mechanical design to ensure spacecraft integrity under launch, orbital, and environmental conditions. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and deliver high-reliability spacecraft structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural design, finite element modeling (FEM), and analysis for spacecraft systems, subsystems, and payloads.
  • Conduct structural simulations to evaluate static, dynamic, vibration, shock, and acoustic loads.
  • Perform modal, buckling, random vibration, and fatigue life analyses to validate spacecraft designs.
  • Support mechanical design teams by providing structural optimization and mass reduction strategies.
  • Correlate analysis with test results from vibration, acoustic, and static load tests.
  • Collaborate with thermal, systems, avionics, and propulsion teams to ensure structural integrity and compliance.
  • Prepare technical documentation, analysis reports, and participate in design and program reviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to developing advanced structural simulation capabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in spacecraft/satellite structural design and analysis.
  • Proficiency in structural simulation and FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, Abaqus, HyperMesh, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical loads for launch vehicles and spacecraft environments.
  • Experience with structural test planning, execution, and correlation.
  • Knowledge of space-grade materials and design for manufacturability (metallics, composites, additive manufacturing).
  • Familiarity with international spacecraft structural standards (ECSS, NASA, ISRO guidelines).

Preferred Skills

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Aerospace/Mechanical/Structural Engineering.
  • Experience working on LEO, MEO, GEO, or interplanetary spacecraft programs.
  • Expertise in composite structures, fracture mechanics, and advanced lightweight materials.
  • Exposure to multi-physics simulations (thermal-structural coupling, vibro-acoustics).
  • Hands-on experience with structural qualification testing.
  • Strong communication skills for design reviews and technical documentation.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor engineers.
