Draftsman creates detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and plans from sketches and specifications, utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to represent designs for buildings, machines, or products. Key responsibilities include collaborating with engineers and architects, ensuring designs meet project requirements and industry standards, revising drawings based on feedback, and maintaining accurate documentation for projects in various fields, from construction to manufacturing. 

Key Responsibilities

Create technical drawings: Generate precise technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D models using CAD software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Revit. 

Translate concepts: Convert rough sketches and verbal instructions from engineers, architects, or designers into detailed, accurate technical plans. 

Ensure compliance: Verify that all designs and drawings comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and project specifications. 

Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with architects, engineers, and other project team members to refine designs and incorporate feedback. 

Manage documentation: Maintain accurate records of all drawings, design changes, and related project documentation. 

Perform site visits: Visit construction or manufacturing sites as needed to gather information and ensure the accuracy of designs. 

Prepare bills of materials: Create lists of materials and components required for a project based on the technical drawings. 

Required Skills and Qualifications

CAD proficiency: Expertise in using various CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks). 

Attention to detail: A strong ability to ensure accuracy and precision in every aspect of the drawings produced. 

Technical understanding: Knowledge of drafting standards, technical terminology, and industry-specific codes. 

Communication skills: The ability to effectively communicate with architects, engineers, and other team members. 

Problem-solving: Creative thinking and the ability to identify and resolve design challenges. 

Adaptability: A willingness to stay updated with advancements in CAD technology and design trends.
