About the role:

Luminar Technologies is looking for an Sr Staff Electrical Analysis Engineer to be a part of a talented team of Hardware team working on exciting new opportunities in the autonomous mobility and ADAS markets. The individual will be responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of high-quality automotive hardware products. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams including system architects, PCB engineers, software engineers, and product owners to execute day to day activities.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage the WCCA function, ensuring accurate and thorough analysis by the team.
  • Conduct Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA) per industry accepted practices.
  • Analyze system and subsystem level requirements, designs, and test protocols to ensure WCCA aligns with customer expectations.
  • Implement changes identified through WCCA.
  • Support electronic circuit verification activities per industry accepted practices.
  • Work closely with the test team to establish test plans that correlate with WCCA.
  • Generate electrical architecture solutions, topologies, and configurations to optimize the electrical design for new project needs.
  • Design, model, simulate, implement, and verify electronic designs with a specific focus on motor control.
  • Implement low-cost PCB designs through intelligent selection of technologies and implementation of circuits that meet and exceed design goals.
  • Evaluate EMI/EMC, environmental stresses, and interactions within and among systems.
  • Build and analyze bench-level prototypes for proof-of-concept designs.
  • Support DFMEA activities and other analyses to develop a robust product meeting Functional Safety requirement.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing organizations to complete builds of Printed Circuit Assemblies.


Requirements:


  • 10+ years of working experience.
  • MUST have design experience in the automotive industry (OEM or Tier 1).
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience working with simulation and analysis tools such as Hyperlynx, LT Spice, Saber, Mathcad, or Maple.
  • Technical knowledge of automotive qualification testing, including Environmental and EMI/EMC verification procedures.
  • Expert-level proficiency with schematic capture tools.
  • Experience with PCB routing rules generation, PCB stack-ups, and all aspects of physical implementation of PCBs.
  • Experience with schematic capture and layout tools.
  • Experience in design and risk mitigation, testing, and project management.


Bonus Points:


  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or higher.
  • Experience with Altium Designer or Siemens Xpedition tools including schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Experience with Functional Safety requirements, having worked in a development environment that implemented ISO26262.
  • Knowledge of IATF16949 Automotive Quality Management standards.
  • Design For Six Sigma, DMAIC, Lean Six Sigma, or Shanin Red X certified.
  • Experience with lab test equipment including receivers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, amplifiers, or antennas.
