Overview IDC is seeking a Research Analyst, Tech Buyer Data, to join our TechMatch program. In this hands-on role, you will research software markets, create and refresh high volumes of commercial and technical information on software providers, and ensure data quality for our AI-driven sourcing platform. You will be a key contributor to a team that is reshaping how enterprises evaluate and select technology, cutting through the complexity of vendor landscapes and accelerating software procurement with trusted, data-driven insights.Why IDC? Our mission is to help companies grow by putting technology insights into action, and empowering businesses to make better decisions and thrive in the digital-first age.Responsibilities Data Structuring:Convert unstructured data inputs (e.g. from spreadsheets, reports, or websites) into standardized and structured formats. Data Management:Create, maintain, and refresh different type of information on software providers, ensuring data completeness and consistency. Data Enrichment:Use AI tools and automation techniques to clean, categorize, and enrich vendor and product datasets. Market Research:Research and analyze software markets to identify key vendors, products, modules, SKUs, and pricing structures. Quality Assurance:Perform regular data validation and quality checks; identify inconsistencies or gaps and suggest corrective actions. Collaboration:Work closely with analysts, engineers, and product teams to ensure data accuracy and alignment with research objectives. Reporting & Insights:Support in creating research summaries, dashboards, or visual presentations of data insights.Qualifications More than 2 yearsof experience as a Research Analyst, Data Analyst, or Business Analyst. Fair understanding ofsoftware or IT industry concepts(vendors, pricing models, product segmentation). Proficiency inMS Excel(pivot tables, lookups, data cleaning). Goodanalyticalandattention-to-detailskills. Goodcommunication skillsto explain findings clearly. Eagerness to learnnew tools, systems, and methodologies. Collaborative and open to feedback. Exposure toAI or LLM tools(e.g., ChatGPT, Perplexity) for research or data enrichment. Experience working withPowerPointfor presenting research findings. Familiarity withdata quality checks , research databases, or benchmarking studies in software/cloud/IT markets.
