About the Role

The job involves extensive rewriting and editing of articles. It also requires the candidate to at times come up with sharper story ideas and articulate them to the writers/reporters.


Responsibilities


Rewrite

  • Rewrite articles, if needed extensively, to make them clear, concise and crisp
  • Spot data, story angles and comments that are missing in the articles; let the writer know of these gaps.
  • Make sure the story is worthy enough for paid subscribers.
  • Added skill: Knowledge of and interest in MSMEs, government policies, global & domestic trade trends and general business and macroeconomic environment

Edit

  • Edit stories for clarity and consistency
  • Articles will cover a variety of topics, including career trends, personal finance, general trade and business

Spot news trends

  • Keep track of the news cycle on a daily basis to identify story ideas
  • Fine-tune story ideas after discussion with reporters/vertical heads
  • Discuss with reporters how to execute story — focus, data & comments needed, and visual elements



Qualifications

  • A minimum of 15- 17 years of experience in rewriting, editing & spotting news trends.
  • Must hold a graduate degree.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Should also have a flair for thinking of sharper story ideas and articulate them to the writers/reporters.
