Mandatory Skills : API automation testing, Selenium with Java, Playwright (1 yr)

Objective :

Develop an API automation framework that validates all major functionalities of the given FastAPI implmentation, ensuring comprehensive test coverage. The framework should be capable of executing tests efficiently and generating a well-structured test report.

Requirements :

1. Comprehensive API Test Coverage :

- Automate all critical API functionalities, including major CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete).

- Validate status codes, response payloads, headers, and error handling.

- Cover both positive and negative test scenarios to ensure robustness.

- Implement request chaining where the output of one API call is used as input for another.

2. Framework Implementation :

- Use any suitable library for API automation, such as RestAssured (Java), Axios (JavaScript), Playwright (TypeScript/Javascript), or any other preferred library with supported programming language.

- You can integrate testing frameworks like Cucumber, TestNG, Jest, JUnit, Playwright/Test, or any other library to run the tests.

- Design the framework to be scalable, maintainable, and reusable.

- Implement proper assertions to verify API responses.

- Support configuration management (e.g., using environment variables or config files) to handle different API environments (dev, QA, prod).

3. Execution & Reporting :

- The test suite should generate a detailed execution report at the end, highlighting test results with Pass/Fail/Skip tests.

- Any compatible reporting library (e.g., Allure, Extent Reports, Mocha Reporters, or equivalent) can be used, if required.

4. Testing Strategy :

- Explain your testing strategy in a README.md file, including :

1. How you approached writing test flows.

2. How you ensured the tests are reliable and maintainable.

3. Any challenges you faced and how you overcame them.

5. Setup CI/CD :

- Configure a Continuous Integration (CI) pipeline using GitHub Actions to automatically run the tests on every push to the repository.

- Ensure the CI pipeline includes steps for:

- Setting up the environment.

- Running unit tests and reporting code coverage.

- Running integration tests.
