Position Overview
The Project Management Consultant (PMC) will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of renewable energy projects for ACME Group. The role requires expertise in managing multidisciplinary projects, ensuring the alignment of project timelines, budgets, and quality standards, while working closely with clients, internal teams, contractors, and suppliers. The PMC will be responsible for the successful delivery of renewable energy projects, from initial concept to operational handover.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Strategy
- Develop comprehensive project plans for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, etc.), including timelines, resource allocation, and budget forecasts.
- Identify key project milestones and deliverables.
- Assist in feasibility studies, resource assessments, and risk analysis.
- Define project scope, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Project Execution and Monitoring
- Oversee the day-to-day management of project activities, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
- Monitor the progress of ongoing projects and identify potential risks or issues that may arise.
- Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, legal, etc.) to ensure timely execution.
- Implement project management best practices and tools, including Agile or PMP standards.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess the progress of construction or installation activities.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact between ACME Group, clients, contractors, and other external stakeholders.
- Prepare and present regular project updates, including status reports, budget updates, and timelines.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and address concerns in a timely manner.
- Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
Quality and Risk Management
- Ensure all project deliverables meet the required quality standards and specifications.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with each project phase.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Implement corrective actions as needed to resolve any quality or safety issues that arise.
Financial Oversight and Reporting
- Manage and monitor project budgets, ensuring cost control and alignment with financial goals.
- Review and approve contractor invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
- Track and report on financial performance, including variances in cost and resource utilization.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor project teams, ensuring effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure project milestones are met.
- Provide training and guidance to junior project managers and team members.
Post-Project Handover
- Oversee the successful commissioning and operational handover of projects to clients or internal teams.
- Ensure project documentation is complete and accurate, including design plans, as-built documents, and operations manuals.
- Assist in the transition of projects to operations and maintenance teams.
Qualifications and Requirements
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, etc.) or a related field.
- Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.) is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5-12 years of experience of project management in the renewable energy industry (solar, wind, etc.).
- Proven experience managing large-scale renewable energy projects from initiation to completion.
- Experience in stakeholder management, risk assessment, and financial oversight.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies and project delivery methods.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools (MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
- Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations in the renewable energy industry.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel as required for site visits and project meetings.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of local regulatory frameworks and industry standards for renewable energy projects.
