About Role:

- We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Merchandising Head to lead our merchandising strategy and operations.


- As a member of the executive team, the rolewill be responsible for driving product selection, pricing, and positioning to maximize customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and profitability.


- This role is pivotal in shaping the overall direction of the company and ensuring alignment with market trends, consumer preferences, and business - Strategic Leadership

- Define and execute the overall merchandising strategy to achieve the company's business goals, including revenue growth, profitability, and market share.

- Develop a clear vision for category management and ensure alignment with consumer needs, emerging trends, and competitive benchmarks.

- Create and communicate a long-term roadmap for product assortment, pricing strategies, and promotional planning to maximize profitability and customer engagement.

- Category Management Excellence

- Lead category management practices, ensuring each category delivers optimal customer value and financial performance.

- Oversee category teams in analyzing sales data, market trends, and customer insights to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.

- Establish and implement strategies for new product launches, product life cycle management, and exit strategies for underperforming items.

- Ensure category-specific goals align with the broader organizational KPIs, including revenue targets, gross margin, and market penetration.

- Assortment Planning and Optimization

- Develop and manage a robust assortment strategy that ensures the right product mix to meet customer demand while minimizing excess inventory.

- Leverage data-driven insights to tailor assortments for different customer segments, regions, and seasons.

- Partner with the marketing and digital teams to drive personalized product recommendations and curated collections to enhance customer experience.

- Monitor the performance of product assortments and adjust as needed to improve sales velocity and profitability.

- Revenue and Profitability Management

- Drive the development of pricing and promotional strategies that balance competitiveness, customer acquisition, and margin optimization.

- Collaborate with the finance team to set revenue and profitability targets for each category and ensure consistent monitoring and achievement.

- Analyze performance metrics (e.g., sales, gross margin, inventory turnover) to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to address gaps.

- Develop and oversee the execution of strategies to capitalize on peak selling seasons and key promotional periods.

- Vendor and Supplier Relations

- Build and nurture strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to secure competitive pricing, exclusive products, and favorable terms.

- Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors to maximize profitability and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.

- Collaborate with sourcing teams to identify and onboard new suppliers that align with company standards and customer expectations.

- Partner with vendors to co-develop exclusive product lines and promotions that differentiate the company in the market.

- Inventory Management and Supply Chain Collaboration

- Partner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure optimal inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and reduce excess inventory.

- Oversee inventory planning processes, including demand forecasting, replenishment, and inventory turn optimization.

- Implement strategies to improve supply chain efficiency and reduce lead times to keep pace with customer demand.

- E-commerce and Digital Integration

- Collaborate with the digital and technology teams to enhance online merchandising, including site navigation, product taxonomy, and search optimization.

- Ensure seamless execution of cross-selling, upselling, and bundling opportunities on the e-commerce platform.

- Monitor and optimize key online performance metrics such as conversion rates, average order value, and customer retention.-

Role Requirements

- 15+ years of experience in leadership roles in Retail and / or ecommerce companies

- Networked well in the industry to open partnerships for company with brands of repute.

- Open to travel frequently

- Demonstrated ability or track record of retail business transformation.

Key Competencies & Skills:

- Strategic Thinking: The Merchandising head must be able to think strategically and develop long-term financial plans that support the company's growth and profitability goals.

- Leadership and Team Management: The Merchandising head must be an effective leader and manager, with the ability to build and lead a high-performing category management team. You should be able to provide guidance and mentorship to the category team and communicate effectively with other departments

- Communication Skills: The Merchandising head must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information and insights to a variety of stakeholders, including the CEO, board of directors, investors, and internal stakeholders.

- Risk Management: The Merchandising head must be skilled in risk management, including identifying potential financial risks and developing strategies to mitigate those risks. You should be able to develop and implement internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with all company compliance related to "procure to pay" processes, inventory management controls..

- Adaptability: The Merchandising head must be adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. You should be able to quickly adjust your merchandising strategy in response to changes in the market or the company's goals.
