Role Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled LookML & Looker Developer to design, build, and optimize business intelligence solutions leveraging Looker and modern data platforms.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in SQL, data modeling, and data visualization, coupled with expertise in BI tools and scripting. This role involves collaborating with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to deliver scalable dashboards, analytical models, and actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities :

LookML Development :

- Design, develop, and maintain LookML models, Explores, Views, and Derived Tables.

- Optimize LookML projects to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance.

- Implement advanced Looker features such as Persistent Derived Tables (PDTs), Access Filters, User Attributes, and custom dimensions/measures.

Data Modeling & Analytics :

- Translate business requirements into efficient data models using best practices.

- Design semantic layers for self-service analytics and ensure alignment with data governance policies.

- Perform in-depth data analysis to validate data quality, identify anomalies, and improve data accuracy.

Dashboard & Visualization Development :


- Build highly interactive and visually compelling dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Looker and Looker Studio.

- Develop drill-downs, filters, and advanced visualization features to improve user experience.

- Ensure dashboards are performance-optimized, scalable, and aligned with user needs.

Data Platform Integration :

- Work with relational and cloud-based databases such as GCP BigQuery, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, or similar RDBMS.

- Write and optimize complex analytical SQL queries for large-scale datasets.

- Collaborate with data engineering teams to integrate Looker with enterprise data pipelines.

Automation & Scripting :


- Use Python for scripting, automation, and integration tasks to extend Looker capabilities.

- Leverage APIs to embed Looker dashboards into applications or integrate with external systems.

System & Platform Management :

- Manage Looker projects in Git for version control and CI/CD pipelines.

- Perform system-level tasks using UNIX/Linux commands for environment monitoring and automation.

- Ensure compliance with data security, access control, and audit requirements.

Required Skills :


- Strong proficiency in SQL (analytical queries, optimization, performance tuning).

- Proven expertise in LookML development and Looker/Looker Studio dashboards.

- Strong knowledge of data modeling concepts (star schema, snowflake schema, dimensional modeling).

- Experience with at least one cloud data warehouse (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)

- Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and data handling.

- Working knowledge of BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik, or Power BI.

- Hands-on experience with Linux/UNIX shell commands.

- Strong analytical mindset and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Preferred Skills :


- Experience in data governance, security, and access control in Looker.

- Knowledge of Git-based workflows and CI/CD for Looker projects.

- Familiarity with Looker API and embedding solutions.

- Exposure to ETL/ELT pipelines and data engineering practices.

- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies for BI project delivery.

Educational Qualification :


- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (ref:hirist.tech)
