Site Engineer

Role: Commission & Qualify (as per Regulatory requirements) Systems / Equipment's / Plants conforming to pre-Approved Site Acceptance Test (SAT) Protocols at Customer's Site

Education Qualification: BE / BTech in Mechanical / Instrumentation / Biotech / Chemical Engineering

Years of Experience: 4 to 6 years

Travel Requirement: Definitely, PAN INDIA

Accountable and Responsible for :

1.Prepare the ---

• Checklist for the Customer's Site readiness and arrange the Customer's consent on Site Readiness through effective follow-up.
• Simultaneously, get the Project Handing-Over Documents from the Project Dept, scrutinise the Document for accuracy-&-completeness, assist the Coordinator (C&Q) to prepare the Cost Estimate for the visit to the Customers' Site (with the Day-wise Plan, Site Schedule, Boarding-Lodging, Local Conveyance etc) and arrange to get the Approval from the Top Management.
• Work/Service Order of Third Party Contractor (TPC) at the Customer's Site (after selecting a Validated TPC, receiving-comparing-finalising the Quote from the TPC) and the Issuance-&-Receipt of the Work/Service Order by the TPC.

2.Upon reaching the Customer's Site ---

• Arrange to Unload the Consignment (if in the scope) at/near the Customer's Facility.
• Ensure the Gate Entry procedures, as per the Customer's pre-determined Material Entry procedures and the safe-&-secure positioning of the Consignment at the pre-determined location of the Customer.
• Arrange to Unpack the Consignment, Reconcile the material as per the pre-pared Packing List and Shift-&-Position-&-Install the respective Systems/Equipment's at the precise location as per the pre-Approved relevant Drawings.

3.Intitiate, with the TPC/s and System Integrators, SI (for Automation), the ---

• Site Piping Fabrication-&-Installation, as per pre-Approved Piping &Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID).
• Insulation, as per Good Engineering Practices, Cable Tray, Conduit, Tubing and Cabling as per pre-Approved General Arrangement (GA) & Room Layout Drawings.
• Installation, Hook-up, Seamless-&-Error free Running of the System-specific Automation (Software & Hardware).
• In the event, the System is an Old/Past Supply for which the Customer has raised a complaint or doubt, Coordinate with the respective SI and arrange (though calls/mails) to promptly rectify the issue raised. If the issue is either past the Warranty or can be attributed to the operational reasons of the Customer, raise an Investigation Report, arrange an Cost Estimate in consultation with either the SI or DDE's Automation Dept and promptly submit the Cost implication to the Marketing Dept for further actions. Additionally, the Rectification or re-Work or Modification, as the case may be, should be Documented as an 'as-built' and all the relevant Documents (P&ID, SA, FDS, VM etc) should be updated.
• In the event the Assignment is that of Modification / Upgradation of a System supplied in the past, The Customer's requirements should be internally discussed, finalised, documented, compared with the past Documents, got analysed-&-validated with the concerned internal Depts. for feasibility, got approved by the Customer for Scope-&-Cost resulting in a Purchase Order from the Customer. Thereafter, depending on the Scope of the work, Sr # 3.1 till 3.4 should follow

4.Initiate & Execute ---

• The Installation-&-Operational Qualification, as per pre-Approved SAT Protocols, in the presence of the Representatives of the Customer.
• Trouble shoot the Mechanical and/or Electrical-&-Automation bottlenecks / issues that may arise, if any. In the event, the nature of the Bottleneck is Software or Hardware, arrange for the deputation of the relevant Automation Engineer from DDE or SI for speedy and satisfactory remedy of the issue. If required, a Risk or Impact Assessment Document should be either Prepared or Got-prepared.
• Timely Escalation in the event of Deviations w.r.t. Quantity, Quality, Regulatory-complaince as per pre-Approved Escalation Matrix and arrange to get them resolved either internally or with the Customer without any delay or difference-of-opinions.

5.Ensure ---

• Adherence to the pre-Approved Completion Timelines.
• Conformation to mandatory Regulatory requirements in terms of Statutory Certification and Quality Standards.
• Maintenance of all relevant Site-related Records of Attendance, Update of Man-days, Daily/Weekly SAT updates, Deviation-&-Resolution updates.
• The Site-Bill of the TPC/s are discussed-&-finalised and that there are no doubts / disputes. All the necessary Site Expenditures should result in Invoices that are unambiguous, reasonably justifiable and optimally quantified.
• Regular Verbal-&-Written Communication with Head Office / HOD on Sr # 3 above and any other pre-Determined MIS Reports.

6.It is imperative that ---

• The Site Handover Drawings/Documents, the Punch-list & the Sign-off on the SAT Protocols are Accurate, Complete and Unambiguous. The Documents should include, but not limited to, Service Report, Declaration Report, Investigation Report, Corrective Action & Preventive Action

(CAPA), Risk /Impact Assessment and Justification Note.

• The Relationship with the Representatives of the Customer, post the Handover, are professional, cordial and in keeping with the image of DDE.

7.Post the Sign-off from the Customer, in the event of subsequent queries/doubts/comments raised by the Customer, show Intent-&-Accountability and Attend to the Calls/Mails as deemed fit, so that the Customer's expectations are met.

Behavioural Skills:

1. Should be Knowledge-wise on top of his game. He should be confident on his work and should be able to stand his ground in the event he feels he is professionally-&-technically in the right. Flexibility, while desired, should be exercised with the full knowledge of Cost-&-Time implications.
2. Should have a keen eye for Details and should readily be able to spot Errors/Discrepancies/Deviations in Site-installations, Drawings, Data Sheets, Commercial Offers, Purchase Orders, Commercial Agreements etc.
3. Should have a pleasant personality and should be able to resolve Doubts, Differences, Disputes without sacrificing the interests of DDE. While Customer friendliness, is desirable, it should manifest without the loss of Technical prudence or Professional integrity.
4. Since, he shall be the Representative / Face of DDE at the Site, his behaviour and demeanour should be fitting to the image and reputation of the Company. Assignments completed by him should result in the confidence of the Customer for unhindered calls/mails to him should the Customer so feel the need.
5. Should have the persona of a Leader.

Key Performance Indicators:

1. Minimal, if not Zero, Non-compliances be it Technical, Regulatory, Commercial or Personnel.
2. Minimal, if not Zero, Cost & Time overruns of Site assignments.
3. Completeness and Accuracy of all Site Documentation --- in Quantity and Quality.
4. An impressive List of DDE's Customers with whom he notches up a "First-name Call"
