Role Profile

The Electrification Core engineering team requires experienced Electrical Engineers to apply world-class design and analysis skills to improve Jaguar Land Rover's capability to deliver the next generation of HV Systems. The objective is to deliver levels of reliability and robustness into the Electric and Hybrid propulsion systems, exceeding anything that we have seen before by using the latest tools and best practice Engineering Techniques.


Key Responsibilities:

Electrical SME for the HV system, composing the HV Electrical Diagrams and Block diagrams

Coordinate the electrical specifications of the system between the system components

Technical knowledge and understanding of chargers, converters, Inverters, Machines, Mechanical, Thermals, EMI/EMC, Batteries

Lead electrical modelling activities related to power electronics system components and integration of powertrain components/converters

Model and Test the HV System capabilities against the DFMEA

Modelling and analysis of physical, and thermals aspects of HV Systems

Generate and review/refine the system-level architecture of various BEV platforms

Support Quality work such as DFMEA and Functional Safety activities.

Work as an HW technical support for system-level testing and analyzing the rig test results

Support requirement engineering and verify the system-level requirements.

Support the resolution of cross-functional technical / manufacturing issues using a Global 8D process

Ensure robust timing plans are met to achieve Program milestones and targets(Quality, Cost, Functionality, Weight, and timing).

Lead suppliers through the design phase of their electronics to meet JLR design and test specifications through the Guidelines Review and Development of Electronics process(GRADE).


Skills, experience and qualifications

Essential:

Master’s Degree in Power Electronics /Power Systems/Electric Drives/allied branches of engineering

Minimum 10 years of power electronics product development /engineering experience in the automotive or transportation/ aerospace domain

Excellent Technical presentation skills, articulate at drawing electrical schematics and diagrams.

A knowledge of typical BEV, MHEV and PHEV system solutions and technologies.

Experience of complex power electronics high-voltage systems.

Experience specifying and designing low voltage, high voltage and control hardware including an understanding of typical characteristics and protective systems required.

Understanding of regulatory needs applicable to BEV and PHEV solutions.

Hands on Experience in Board bring up Activities.

Expertise on Infineon Aurix / STM / TI/ Atmel/ Microchip / any other family-based controllers required

Experience in Low level driver development for module ADC, DMA, for Infineon AURIX & STM family and for external peripherals IC like, Gate driver IC’s

Develop a testing strategy and test methods, executing testing on the base software on development boards and target hardware.

A working knowledge of the design and release process

Knowledge of System Modelling (MATLAB, PLECS, PSIM)

Strong people skills and the ability to work individually and in a cross functional team

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Have designed the HV System for at least one vehicle application and will have experienced putting the design into production.

Good appreciation of design for the automotive environment.

An appreciation of system level issues and software is required


Desired:

Ph. D in Electrical Engineering

Functional Safety knowledge (ISO26262)

Familiarity with RMDV or DOORS.

Product launchexperience.

Experience of TRM process.

Understanding of control systemshardware, including sensor technology, controlsoftware and diagnostics.

Experience of defining and/orusing appropriate analysistools to optimizeand verify thermalperformance and hardware reliability/ durability.
