Research Commons is an early-stage startup founded by IIT and BITS Pilani alumni, dedicated to decentralizing the research ecosystem in both academic and enterprise verticals. Our platform is designed for researchers at all stages of their careers—from first-time authors to seasoned experts. We provide innovative tools to help researchers publish, analyze, and collaborate seamlessly. Our mission is to empower aspiring researchers by offering a comprehensive ecosystem that accelerates scientific discovery. Role Description

As a UI/UX Design Intern at Research Commons, you will be responsible for designing user-friendly and visually engaging interfaces for our research tools. You will work on refining our product’s user experience by creating wireframes, mockups, and prototypes while also contributing to the development of a design system. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic startup environment and collaborate with a cross-functional team to shape the future of academic research platforms.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes for web applications.
  • Design end-to-end UI/UX for products, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience.
  • Collaborate with product managers and developers to integrate design with functionality.
  • Work on establishing and improving a design system , focusing on consistency, usability, and visual appeal.
  • Iterate on designs based on user feedback and usability testing to enhance the overall experience.


Qualifications


  • Should have completed a degree in UI/UX Design, Graphic Design, HCI, or a related field .
  • Have worked earlier for at least 1-2 years
  • Proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch with experience in designing web applications.
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX principles, design systems, interaction design, and usability best practices .
  • Ability to define and refine a design system for a growing product.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A portfolio showcasing UI/UX design projects is highly preferred.
