Staff Engineer

As a rapidly growing company, with offices in the USA, UK, Australia, and India servicing clients in over 60 countries, we are seeking talented individuals to join our company.The RoleWe are looking for an experienced Staff Engineer to drive the design, architecture, and delivery of complex, scalable, and high-impact technical solutions across our global content platform. This role is critical to the growth and success of our technology team and involves close collaboration with engineering teams, product management, and other stakeholders to ensure technical excellence and alignment with company goals.Responsibilities:- Act as a technical leader across multiple teams, driving architecture decisions and ensuring technical alignment with the organization’s vision. - Design, develop, and deliver scalable, performant, and resilient systems that meet current and future business needs. - Write high-quality, production-grade code to create pilots or proof-of-concept solutions for innovative ideas. - Drive the development of new features that align with business and user needs. - Lead complex technical initiatives, including the evaluation and integration of new technologies and frameworks. - Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers across the organization to promote best practices and professional growth. - Identify and address technical debt, architectural bottlenecks, and areas for optimization in existing systems. - Conduct thorough code and design reviews, ensuring adherence to high standards of quality and maintainability. - Drive adoption of modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure as code.Requirements:- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior technical role. - Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, and Go. Familiarity in PHP as a plus. - Experience with modern web development frameworks and libraries, including Node.js and React. - Deep knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems. - Proven ability to write production-grade code and deliver pilots or proof-of-concept solutions. - Demonstrated experience contributing to the maintenance of existing systems and the development of new features. - In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and experience building cloud-native applications. - Extensive experience with databases, including SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB). - Proficiency in modern software development practices, including Agile methodologies, DevOps principles, and CI/CD pipelines. - Demonstrated ability to design and implement secure, scalable, and reliable software systems. - Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. - Strong understanding of architectural patterns, including event-driven architecture, CQRS, and domain-driven design. - Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvement. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Results driven, with an ability to work in a fast paced environment.Why JoVE?- You will make a direct impact in accelerating science research and in improving student learning in science and business education for users around the world. - Opportunity to work in an environment that promotes innovation and collaboration. - Opportunity to work with a diverse and international team across North America, EMEA and APAC. - Our strong promotion from within culture draws a clear path to advance your career with us.
