Cloud Economist and FinOps Engineer

Role Summary :

Were looking for a Cloud Engineer passionate about cloud efficiency and excited about working with customers and making them successful.

You will work closely with customers, drive optimization, FinOps culture and cost management strategies using OneLens as a platform.

The key areas of contribution will be cost savings, cost avoidance and adoption and improvement of OneLens platform to drive long-term engagement with customer.

The engineer is expected to have expertise in all three major clouds AWS, GCP, and Azure, with primary focus and expertise in Azure FinOps.

Responsibilities :

Cloud Economics & Cost Optimization :

Usage Optimization :

- Use OneLens to understand costs, usage, optimization opportunities, and drive cost optimization for customers through the platform

- Analyze costs, anomalies and work closely with customers on deeper cost optimization opportunities not identified by OneLens.

Rate Optimization :

- Drive Rate Optimization through analysis of coverage and utilization of RIs/Savings Plan across services

Reporting, Tagging & Cost Allocation :

- Advise on resource-tagging frameworks to enable granular charge-back or show-back reporting.

Automation :

- Drive automated remediation where feasible to achieve quick cost savings

Customer Success & Engagement :

Onboarding & Implementation :

- Lead end-to-end OneLens setup

- Train customer teams on platform usage

- Drive ongoing adoption

Relationship Management :

- Serve as primary technical liaison for a defined customer portfolio; drive regular cadence (weekly or fortnightly depending on customer engagement.

- Proactively surface cost anomalies, usage spikes and achieved savings with clear recommendations.

Project Management :

- Develop detailed project plans for larger changes and big impact items with milestones, deliverables and success metrics.

- Coordinate cross-functional teams (support, engineering, product) for custom integrations or escalations.

Requirements :

- 3+ years of Cloud Cost Optimization experience, with hands on expertise in Azure, GCP and AWS cloud infrastructure.

- Solid understanding of multiple Azure services, their purpose, typical usage and billing.

- Deep understanding of Azure resource life cycles, tagging strategies, cost drivers and common waste patterns.

- Exceptional listening, interpersonal and communication skills.

- Must have excellent documentation skills.

- Exceptional ability and passion to learn.

- While experience across multiple cloud platforms is a plus, deep expertise in Azure is essential.

- A solid educational background and prior customer-facing experience are also required.
