Position Overview

As the Business Head, you will be instrumental in establishing and scaling the mining consulting business with full accountability for its success and growth. You will be responsible for crafting and executing a strategic vision that aligns with our group’s objectives, identifying market opportunities, and designing the service offerings. Your role will involve building a high-performing team, nurturing a culture of excellence, and driving business development to secure new clients and strengthen existing relationships.


As the face of our consulting division, you will engage directly with clients and stakeholders, ensuring that our services exceed expectations in quality, reliability, and innovation. Additionally, you will oversee operational efficiency, project management, and compliance to uphold the highest standards within the mining sector. Your expertise in networking, negotiation, and financial management will be critical in achieving the division’s financial targets, securing a solid return on investment, and establishing our brand as a trusted leader in mining consulting. Key Responsibilities:

Business Strategy and Growth:

Develop and execute a strategic plan for launching and scaling the mining consulting division, aligned with the overall goals of the group.

Identify market trends, emerging needs, and strategic opportunities within the mining consulting space to drive business growth.

Set ambitious financial and performance targets and manage resources effectively to achieve these goals.

Team Building and Leadership:

Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of consultants, technical experts, external vendors and partners and support staff.

Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment.

Oversee staff training, development, and career growth, establishing the consulting division as a preferred employer in the industry.

Client Relationship and Stakeholder Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and trust.

Serve as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders, handling all inquiries, challenges, and negotiations.

Operational Excellence:

Develop and implement efficient and effective business processes for the business, ensuring high standards of quality and accountability.

Oversee project management to ensure timely delivery, budget adherence, and risk management.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and safety guidelines in the mining industry.

Business Development and Networking:

Proactively seek out and secure new business opportunities, leveraging existing industry networks and forging new relationships.

Represent the business at industry events, conferences, and trade shows, building brand awareness and thought leadership.

Collaborate with the group’s executive team to integrate consulting services with other business lines, creating synergies across the organization.

Financial Management:

Develop and manage the budget, ensuring a strong return on investment and sustainable profitability.

Oversee pricing strategy, contract negotiation, and cost management to achieve financial targets.

Regularly report on performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations to the promoters.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or Geology and a MBA or advanced degree in management/administration.
  • 15+ years of experience in the mining industry, with at least 8 years in a leadership or senior management role within consulting or a similar sector.
  • Operational experience in the mining industry.
  • Proven track record of business development, client relationship management, and strategic planning.
  • Strong knowledge of the mining sector, including technical, regulatory, and market dynamics.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated expertise in networking, negotiation, and stakeholder management.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in financial and operational management in a consulting environment.
  • Familiarity with digital and data-driven tools for consulting and project management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset focused on long-term growth and sustainability.
