Senior Merchandiser

Job Overview:

We are in search of a talented and versatile Garment Merchandiser cum Designer to join our team. This role combines the responsibilities of a merchandiser and a designer, requiring a blend of creativity, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of the fashion industry. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the development and production of garments from concept to delivery, ensuring they meet both creative vision and market demands.

Responsibilities:

1. Product Conceptualization: Collaborate with the design team to conceptualize garment designs that align with current fashion trends, brand identity, and target market preferences.
2. Merchandising Strategy: Develop merchandising strategies that optimize product assortment, pricing, and placement to drive sales and meet business objectives.
3. Design Development: Translate design concepts into technical sketches, patterns, and specifications, ensuring they are production-friendly and cost-effective.
4. Material Sourcing: Source and select appropriate fabrics, trims, and accessories that meet design requirements, quality standards, and cost targets.
5. Supplier Management: Liaise with manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers to negotiate pricing, lead times, and quality standards, ensuring timely delivery of materials and finished goods.
6. Production Coordination: Oversee the production process from sampling to bulk production, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and cost efficiency.
7. Quality Assurance: Conduct quality inspections at various stages of production to ensure garments meet design specifications, fit, and finish standards.
8. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and sales performance to identify product trends, stock levels, and opportunities for reordering or markdowns.
9. Market Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscape to inform product development and merchandising decisions.
10. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, production, marketing, and sales to align merchandising strategies with overall business goals.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Merchandising, Textiles, or related field.
2. Proven experience in garment merchandising, design, or production management, preferably in the apparel industry.
3. Strong design skills with proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other design software.
4. Knowledge of garment construction, pattern-making, and technical specifications.
5. Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
6. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
7. Detail-oriented with a keen eye for quality and aesthetics.
8. Passion for fashion and a deep understanding of market trends and consumer behavior.
