We are seeking an experienced ELK Observability Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing, configuring, and maintaining the ELK stack to enhance our observability capabilities.


You will work closely with development and operations teams to ensure the effective collection, analysis, and visualization of log and metric data, contributing to the overall health and performance of our systems.

Key Responsibilities :

Implement and Configure ELK Stack : Set up and maintain Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana environments. Ensure the stack is optimized for performance and reliability.

Log Management : Develop and manage log ingestion pipelines using Logstash or Beats. Configure log parsing, enrichment, and transformation processes.

Data Visualization : Design and build Kibana dashboards and visualizations to provide actionable insights into system performance, error rates, and other key metrics.

Performance Tuning : Optimize Elasticsearch queries and cluster configurations to ensure fast and efficient data retrieval and indexing.

Monitoring and Alerting : Set up monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address issues. Create alerts based on log patterns and system performance metrics.

Collaboration : Work with development and operations teams to understand their observability needs and implement solutions that support their goals.

Troubleshooting : Investigate and resolve issues related to log ingestion, indexing, and visualization. Provide support for debugging and troubleshooting.

Documentation and Training: Document configurations, processes, and best practices. Provide training and support to team members on using ELK stack tools effectively.

Security and Compliance: Ensure that data security and compliance requirements are met. Implement appropriate access controls and data protection measures.

Qualifications :

Experience: Proven experience with the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) in a production environment. Familiarity with Beats (Filebeat, Metricbeat, etc.) is a plus.

Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Elasticsearch architecture, query DSL, and data modeling. Proficiency in log parsing and transformation using Logstash or similar tools.

Scripting and Automation: Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools for managing and deploying observability solutions.

Data Visualization: Ability to create effective dashboards and visualizations in Kibana. Experience with other visualization tools is a plus.

Performance Tuning: Skills in optimizing Elasticsearch performance and troubleshooting issues related to indexing and search.

Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and interpret complex log data and metrics.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills:

5+ years in experience in designing, automating, maintaining and optimizing observability platforms (logging, metric and tracing)

- Expert level understanding of the log monitoring and observability space.

- Expert-level experience in monitoring and logging technologies, both open source and closed source (e. g. Dynatrace, Prometheus, ELK, Grafana etc).

- 3+ years of hands-on experience in notable closed source observability tools(e. g- Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk, New relic).

- Expert-level knowledge on entire IT landscape that spans across network, compute, storage, middle-wares, databases, app servers, Web Servers, Cloud (AWS), Kubernetes

- Must understand SLI/SLO, Golden Signals and DORA metrics.

- Strong automation/scripting skills with proficiency in Python, shell scripting etc.

- Experience with alert and notification management (like PagerDuty, Teams and Slack integrations).

- Experience with building dashboards using Grafana or similar tools.

- Experience with distributed tracing tools.
