Job Description :

Machine Learning Engineer Specialised in Image Processing

Technologies we use :

- Our entire technology is based on image-processing: we photograph the chemicals in low light and then run an ML model to determine how much TSH, T4 or T3 the patient has.

- We use YOLO for objection detection. Inference happens on a Raspberry Pi, not on a server. The Raspberry Pi has only 8 GB memory and a CPU 10-15x slower than a Macbook Air or iPhone.

- We use Python as the programming language.

Requirements :


- You're proficient with YOLO or any other library for low-light You've done ML inferencing on the edge, be it on Raspberry Pi, phones or PCs.


- You've singlehandedly introduced ML into a product, verified its accuracy and deployed it end to end,

delivering measurable benefits to users.


- You understand the concepts of deep convolutional neural networks.


- You've fine-tuned ML models over quarters to continuously keep increasing accuracy.


- You know when to improve an existing model and when to explore new models, and how much time we should spend exploring a new framework before we move on.


- You have a good foundation in statistics, and have a solid intuition for it.


- You know what part of the problem should be solved using ML and what part outside ML (i.e., using traditional programming).


- You've trained models with appropriate data sets, and you know when retraining is needed.


- You know how to tweak models along various dimensions, like making them scale-independent.


- You know how to represent data to get the best results.


- You identify risks in our ML strategy, and flag them proactively to management.


- In other words, you take responsibility for the execution of the ML strategy of the company, effectively acting as an ML Lead, rather than just doing tasks assigned by someone.


In this role, you'll have no ML Lead :


- You're good at collaborating with other stakeholders like software engineers, PMs, scientists, the Head of Software Engineering, and the CEO, to ensure that nothing slips through the cracks.


- You're eager to learn and work with new technologies.


- You welcome the unstructured environment of a small startup, where every day can be different.


- In particular, considering that we have a small software team, we may require you to occasionally work on software engineering (not related to AI) work if it's critical, or in the time left after ML tasks are done.


- You're good at working independently and productively, following our project management guidelines, without a manager looking over your shoulder daily.



- You're good at listening, understanding the question asked, and then communicating nuanced ideas in a precise and unambiguous manner.


- High growth potential.
