A Looker Developer's job is to design, develop, and maintain Looker data models (LookML), dashboards, and reports to meet business intelligence needs by translating business requirements into technical solutions. Key responsibilities include using LookML and SQL to build interactive dashboards, validating data accuracy, optimizing query performance, and collaborating with stakeholders to provide actionable insights through data visualizations.

Core Responsibilities :

- Create and update Looker data models (views and explores) using LookML, SQL, and Liquid to enable self-service reporting.

- Design, develop, and enhance Looker dashboards and reports to provide actionable insights and meet specific business needs.

- Curate and improve data models, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and efficient query performance.

- Implement best practices for data modeling and caching, and troubleshoot data and performance issues to improve system efficiency.

- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions within the Looker platform.

- Update the Looker data dictionary to support new or changed data elements, ensuring clear documentation for users.

Key Skills & Qualifications :

- Advanced proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and LookML for building Looker models is essential.

- Proven ability to build interactive dashboards and reports.

- Understanding of data architecture and modeling concepts to design effective data models.

- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with various departments.

- Experience with major RDBMS systems, cloud data platforms (like GCP, Snowflake), and version control systems like Github is often preferred.
