The role incumbent is responsible for assisting in achieving the targets as defined in Form-1 in Process engineering capacity
Latest process development and engineering strategies are to be deployed to achieve the targeted outcomes as part of the business objectives
Training and guidance of the associated team is an essential part of this role
The activities performed by the incumbent include:
Research & Development
Run all the R&D projects by strictly adhering to the “Phase Gate Process”
Apply chemical engineering principles and models (reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, and mixing effects) to efficiently evaluate and develop scalable and robust processes
Carry out Literature search, formulate hypothesis, designs experiments (DOE), use scaleup software like DynoChem, collect and analyze data and present solutions to R&D teams.
Generate engineering data in the lab for supporting scale-up activities (reaction kinetics, optimization, crystallization, distillation, filtration, drying)
Exposure to Process Safety data generation and interpretation using DSC, ARC, Optimax Calorimeter, RC1E
Designing of Process Skids for optimizing the process
Working with various external companies from Concept, design, fabrication and Commissioning of various process skids and unit operations equipments
During Lab, Process optimization phase suggests the experiments to generate engineering, chemical, and physical data points as per the agreed-upon format of Lab Development Report
Throughout the process optimization phase in Mini-Plant/ Pilot Plant drive process development initiatives and is responsible for generating data as per the agreed-upon format of Technology Transfer Dossier
Spearhead the root cause analysis investigations related to product and process failures during pilot or manufacturing stage.
Support synthesis team in deriving Paper Costing for the project by providing utility norms
Stay updated with new technologies and innovations in the field
Train and mentor the Process Engineering team
Keep the team and equipment occupancy record and making sure that resources and research facilities fully utilized
Responsible maintenance and housekeeping of Process Engineering and Kilo Lab area.
Collaborate for Achievements
Collaborate with Group Leader R&D during the Lab Process Optimization and preparation of technology dossier
Collaborate with Group Leader Safety and Group Leader Environment lab for developing Safe, robust and economically viable process for commercialization
Collaborate with Group Leader Technical Services for designing Mini-Plant, planning and execution of Mini-Plant / Pilot Plant optimization studies.
Collaborate with the HR team for recruiting new talent, appraising team members, and delivering technical training to the team
Documentation
Support in preparing Gate Promotion Meeting Presentations
Assist Group Leader R&D to prepare fortnightly technical project progress reports
Design Mini-Plant and document the P & ID for a process as optimized in Lab Development Report in collaboration with Group Leader Technical Services
Preparation of Mini-Plant/Pilot Plant Report as per the agreed-upon format
Preparation of Technology Transfer Dossier as per the agreed-upon format
JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Functional | Technical Knowledge Required for this Role:
Strong Chemical Engineering basics and basic synthetic Organic chemistry knowledge
Experiences of leading Process Engineering team
Exposure to a generation of process engineering | process safety data in the lab
Exposure to technology transfer from lab to pilot plant | commercial plant.
Educational Qualification | Experience (in years) | Exposure Required:
Ph.D. (Chemical Engineering) with 10+ Years of Experience in R&D, of which >3 years in the role of leading a team OR M.Tech (Chemical Engineering) with 15+ Years of Experience in R&D of which >5 years in the role of leading a team OR B.Tech (Chemical Engineering) with 20+ Years of Experience in R&D of which >7 years in the role of leading a team
Candidate with good exposure to process engineering, process safety. technology transfer,
Having research papers and ‘patents’ to credit will be preferred
