Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled MS SQL Server Database Developer to join our team in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will have 10-16 years of experience in data modeling, database design, ETL development using SSIS, and PL/SQL. You will work in an Agile environment, ensuring high-quality development and delivery of complex database systems. Expertise in DDL/DML operations, defect tracking using JIRA, and strong communication skills will be essential for this role.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Data Modeling & Database Design: Lead the design and implementation of efficient, scalable, and secure database architectures. Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into optimal data models.
  • SQL Server Development: Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions. Perform DDL (Data Definition Language) and DML (Data Manipulation Language) operations to support database development and maintenance.
  • ETL Development (SSIS): Develop and maintain ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). Work with various data sources to extract, transform, and load data into target systems. Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency throughout the ETL lifecycle.
  • PL/SQL Development: Implement complex business rules and logic through PL/SQL scripts and stored procedures. Optimize database functions to ensure high performance and reliability.
  • Agile Development Practices: Participate in Agile development cycles, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of database solutions.
  • Defect Tracking & Reporting: Track, manage, and report defects using JIRA. Ensure that issues are promptly addressed and that development work is properly documented and tested.
  • Database Optimization & Performance Tuning: Continuously monitor and improve the performance of SQL queries, stored procedures, and overall database systems. Optimize indexing, partitioning, and query execution plans.
  • Collaboration & Mentorship: Mentor junior developers and collaborate with other team members to share best practices, coding standards, and solutions to complex problems. Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables.


Required Skills & Qualifications:



  • Experience: 12-16 years of hands-on experience in MS SQL Server database development, with a strong focus on data modeling, database design, PL/SQL, and ETL development using SSIS.
  • Technical Skills: Strong experience with SQL Server (2012+), SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services), PL/SQL, and T-SQL. Expertise in Data Modeling and Database Design (logical, physical design, normalization). Proficiency in ETL processes, including designing and managing data workflows using SSIS. Strong understanding of DDL and DML operations in SQL Server. Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Agile Methodology: Solid experience working within an Agile environment. Understanding of Scrum practices such as sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
  • Defect Tracking: Extensive experience in defect tracking, issue resolution, and status reporting using JIRA or similar defect management tools.
  • Database Performance Tuning: Strong understanding of SQL Server performance tuning, including indexing, query optimization, and execution plans.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Optional (Nice to Have): Experience with other ETL tools such as Talend or Informatica. Experience in Cloud-based databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.). Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and implementations. Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
