Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

The Sr Product Engineer will be responsible for sustaining engineering activities of existing product ranges of TE ADM Relay Portfolio. The Product Engineer will work with Global and Regional teams for product extension/transfer/cost out projects. Sr Product Engineer will also support for NPD team on Design & Documentation activities on need basis for the New Product Development projects both Global & India programs. Engineer is accountable to meet departmental KPI metrics on sustenance & VAVE activities

Responsibility:

· Responsible for providing solutions for assigned Product engineering activities for TE Product Portfolio.

· Responsible to provide Design & documentation support for NPD team on need basis.

· Root causing of the failure & making the required changes to meet functional requirement.

· Working with global/regional cross-functional team to provide engineering support on sustaining activities daily.

· Produce & release detailed engineering drawings as per drawing standard and Specifications using standard ECR/ECN process.

· Collaborate with plant team on customer complaint resolution by providing technical solutions on product design, form, fit and function.

· Execute standard body certifications such as ASD/MIL/etc. for product lines as required.

· Responsible for managing all drawings and engineering documents in the database as per company standard.

· Co-ordination with Regional cross functional team & Regional suppliers for component development for Design change/VAVE programs.

· Execute product testing & qualification for the design change/VAVE related projects.

· Collaborate with cross functional team to identify VAVE, Process improvement projects to achieve departmental cost savings.

· Support to Marketing team on Customer drawing, CVM requirement for all identified TE portfolio products.

· To carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by the manager.

· To observe company defined compliance & regulations as per the Organization guidelines.

· Understand Mechanical & Electrical requirements of a product and ensure that the design meets the functional requirement.

· Strong Mechanical, Electrical & Design consideration for Electromechanical product Developments.

· Proper Material selection during product design change which meets the functional/environmental requirement of the Electrical Product/ system.

· Consideration of all aspects of the product functional requirement during Design like Magnetic material behavior, Mechanical forces, Material strength, Spring calculation, Environmental condition, Structural requirement, Contact Physics, Protection of Contacts (by Plating), Plastic part quality, Tool requirements for Sheet-metal and Molded parts.

· DFM & DFA consideration during redesign of the component & subsystem.

· Self-Drive for result & complete the project within Project schedule.

· Interpretation of Magnetic, Structural and Thermal analysis data and should be able to translate these results into Design.

· Meet (as required) / Communicate well with Customers and understand their needs to ensure project wins.

· Tolerance consideration for ease of manufacturing & assembly fitment with lower cost.

Desired Candidate Profile:

B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering with good Analytical and Conceptual Skills.

· About 6 to 8 years’ experience in Relays, Contactor, Circuit Breaker, switch gear, panel design in Aerospace, Automotive or Industrial domain Industries.

Should be having an experience of Electromechanical product engineering activities.

· Strong Knowledge on Root Cause analysis for solving product failure using the standard process/tools.

· Strong hands-on experience in Creo software, AutoCAD, PDM windchill & PLM software.

· Strong Knowledge of manufacturing processes like Molding, Stamping, Plating and other Metal Forming processes.

· Strong Knowledge of Tolerance Stack-up Analysis, GD & T, FMEA and Design related calculations.

· Strong Knowledge of Product Development Cycle and Processes.
