Job Summary :

The API Business Analyst is responsible for gathering and analyzing business requirements related to API solutions, and translating those requirements into technical specifications and actionable tasks for development teams.

The API BA ensures that the APIs developed meet both the business needs and technical standards of the organization, while aligning with broader strategic objectives.

Responsibilities :

- Work closely with business stakeholders, product managers, and technical teams to understand business objectives, challenges, and requirements related to API development and integration.

- Collect and document functional, non-functional, and technical requirements for API projects.

- Develop user stories, use cases, process flows, and other relevant documentation.

- Collaborate with development teams, API architects, and technical leads to design API solutions that align with business needs.

- Create clear, detailed API specifications, including endpoints, data models, request/response formats, and security requirements.

- Ensure that APIs are designed to be scalable, maintainable, and secure.

- Serve as a liaison between business teams and technical teams, facilitating communication and ensuring mutual understanding of requirements and constraints.

- Provide regular status updates, documentation, and support for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Define test scenarios, use cases, and criteria for API validation.

- Support the QA team in testing and validating API functionality, performance, and security against requirements.

- Identify and resolve any gaps in API functionality or performance.

- Contribute to the API lifecycle, from conceptualization through to deployment and maintenance.

- Ensure proper version control, documentation, and ongoing monitoring of API performance.

- Support integration efforts by defining and validating API interfaces with internal and external systems.

- Assist in the integration of third-party services or platforms using APIs.

- Ensure adherence to standards for API consumption, including authentication, rate limiting, and error handling.

- Monitor API performance and user feedback to recommend improvements and enhancements.

- Stay up to date with industry trends, API best practices, and new technologies.

- Identify opportunities for optimizing existing API solutions for performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability.

Qualifications :

Education :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience :

- 5-10 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a focus on API projects or technical analysis.

- Experience with RESTful APIs, SOAP, or other API technologies.

- Experience with API tools such as Postman, Swagger, or similar.

Technical Skills :

- Understanding of API architecture and design principles (e., REST, JSON, XML).

- Familiarity with API management tools and platforms (e., Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway).

- Basic knowledge of programming or scripting languages (e., Python, JavaScript) is a plus.

- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Preferred Qualification :

- Certification in Business Analysis (e., CBAP, CCBA) or relevant API certifications (e., API Academy, Apigee).

- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

- Knowledge of database management and integration (SQL, NoSQL)
