Summary: This role has responsibilities of project and portfolio management for major innovation projects and cost savings opportunities. Demonstrated ability to lead across business units and effectively coordinate external internal and multi-site resources is needed along with a proven project management track record leading and delivering large complex projects. Leadership skills working with a cross- functional team through roadblocks and issues that would impede progress are required. Strong influencing skills in presenting and driving process change is a must.


Essential Duties Responsibilities:

Project management

  • Lead key project initiatives in support of operating and strategic plan objectives. Define how the scope goals and deliverables of projects support business goals in collaboration with senior management.
  • Effectively manage project teams time and allocate resources to ensure deliverables are completed
  • Review budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate project team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for assigned work. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within and between various project teams.
  • Manage project gate approval process for team ensuring all deliverables are complete and project is presented accurately to stakeholders.
  • Exercise fundamental sound project management techniques and work flow process when executing assigned projects following Tyson standard project management processes
  • Build project plans using MS Project and WBS structures able to clearly outline objectives timing and risks.
  • Communicate and align key resources at all levels of the organization on assigned projects.


Portfolio management

  • Leads and assists in Portfolio Management for the Business Unit Value Chain International IT organization articulating strategic direction and objectives to drive cross-functional alignment, accountability, and commitment to deliver value to business organization
  • Develops and executes the selection, alignment, and prioritization of project/ program level (portfolio) initiatives according to roadmaps; Assists in development of portfolio artifacts to justify the business/financial case for new initiative selection across entire selection of initiatives; executes multi-year project portfolio initiatives supporting the roadmap; provides visibility and on-going status reports throughout the delivery lifecycle
  • Partner with stakeholder teams across business units to document necessary business cases to frame opportunities, benefits, and risks to decide on a course of action
  • Leads the assessment of business & technology solutions, interprets information technology proposals, evaluates, and develops alternative implementation plans.
  • Develop best practices techniques and tools for project planning execution project management ongoing milestone deliverable tracking communication and key performance metrics
  • Directly supports the budget efforts (Capital Planning, AOP, Portfolio Mgmt etc.) and strategic planning processes. Provides oversight of vendor management and contract renewals.
  • Be a mentor to project managers and analysts within the team to elevate their level of capabilities and influence them to take positive action and accountability for assigned work


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in business, engineering or other related discipline
  • Preferred certification in Project Management from PMI/PMP, Portfolio management (PfMP)
  • 10+ years of experience as a project and portfolio manager delivering large complex technical projects CPG or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge in portfolio management methodologies
  • Proven experience and a strong background successfully completing large complex projects on-time and within budget.
  • Experience in managing and driving change within a complex organization.
  • Advanced PC skills using Microsoft Office products (MS Project, MS Powerpoint) and Project management tools (Jira, Clarity)
