About the Role

Looking for a seasoned Principal DBRE to design, automate, and operate scalable MySQL/PostgreSQL infrastructure on AWS (RDS, EC2).

Focus : automation, scalability, performance tuning, compliance (SOC 2, PCI DSS, ISO 27001), and sustainable data growth.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, automate, and operate scalable MySQL/PostgreSQL infrastructure on AWS (RDS, EC2).

- Lead performance tuning (queries, schema, indexes), version upgrades, and scale-out strategies (Vitess, ProxySQL, replication, sharding).

- Reduce manual work with scripting (Python, Bash, Go) and IaC (Terraform).

- Architect partitioning and data archival strategies for growth & cost efficiency.

- Enforce security, auditing, RBAC, encryption, and compliance controls.

- Implement observability : CloudWatch, PMM, Prometheus, Grafana.

- Drive incident response, RCA, and long-term reliability improvements.

- Mentor teams, define DB standards, support query/system optimizations.

Required Qualifications :

- 7+ years in MySQL/PostgreSQL in high-volume environments.

- 7+ years operating MySQL/PostgreSQL on AWS (RDS, EC2).

- Deep knowledge of MySQL internals, optimization, replication, upgrades.

- Strong in scripting (Python, Bash, Go), Terraform, automation-first mindset.

- Experience with Kubernetes for DB utilities or orchestration.

- Familiarity with scale-out systems (Vitess, ProxySQL), data lifecycle management.

- Security/compliance expertise (SOC 2, PCI DSS, ISO 27001).

- Strong communication & cross-functional collaboration Qualifications :

- Experience with internal DBaaS or self-service tooling.

- Knowledge of Kubernetes-based database orchestration.
