SAP ABAP on HANA developer involves designing, developing, and maintaining ABAP programs and applications optimized for the SAP HANA platform, collaborating with business teams to gather requirements, optimizing code and performance, conducting code reviews, troubleshooting issues, and creating technical documentation.


Key skills include expertise in ABAP, SAP HANA, SQLScript, CDS Views, AMDP, and development tools like SAP HANA Studio, along with strong problem-solving and communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities :

Development & Maintenance :

- Design, code, and maintain custom ABAP applications and enhancements for SAP S/4HANA and HANA environments.

Performance Optimization :

- Optimize ABAP code, applications, and database interactions to ensure high performance and scalability on the HANA platform.

Requirement Analysis :

- Collaborate with functional teams and business analysts to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

Code Review & Best Practices :

- Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and promote best practices for ABAP on HANA development.

Troubleshooting & Debugging :

- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within the SAP landscape, especially those related to HANA and ABAP code.

Documentation :

- Create and maintain technical specifications, documentation for custom solutions, and user manuals.

Testing :

- Participate in unit testing and support user acceptance testing (UAT) phases.

Technical Support :

- Provide 2nd/3rd level technical support and guidance to junior developers and other team members.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Technical Skills :

- Proficiency in SAP ABAP (especially OO ABAP).

- Strong knowledge of SAP HANA and its development concepts.

- Experience with SQLScript, CDS Views, and ABAP Managed Database Procedures (AMDP).

- Familiarity with SAP HANA Studio.

- Understanding of SAP S/4HANA architecture and data modeling.

- Knowledge of OData Services and ABAP RAP.

Experience:

- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in SAP ABAP development.

- Experience with performance tuning and code optimization in a HANA environment.

Soft Skills :

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
