Position Overview: The Azure Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining SQL Server and Oracle databases hosted on the Azure cloud platform. This role focuses on ensuring the performance, availability, and security of databases, while leveraging Azure cloud services for scalability and reliability. Looking for 3+ years of relevant experience.
 
Hands on experience on basic level of Stored Procedures to troubleshoot performance optimization.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Azure Cloud Database Management:
    • Deploy, configure, and manage SQL Server and Oracle databases in Azure environments (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure Database for Oracle, or virtual machines).
    • Monitor and manage databases across multiple Azure regions for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Performance Tuning & Optimization:
    • Monitor database performance and tune SQL queries, indexes, and database configurations to optimize performance.
    • Utilize Azure monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor and Azure SQL Analytics for performance tracking and optimization.
  • Backup & Recovery:
    • Implement and manage automated backup and recovery solutions in Azure for SQL Server and Oracle databases.
    • Set up and maintain disaster recovery solutions using Azure services like Azure Site Recovery or Geo-Replication.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Implement database security best practices, including role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and network security (NSG, VNet).
    • Ensure databases comply with organizational and industry standards for data security and privacy (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Automation & Monitoring:
    • Automate routine database tasks such as backups, performance monitoring, and alerting using Azure tools, scripts, or PowerShell.
    • Configure and maintain monitoring solutions for proactive identification and resolution of potential issues.
  • Troubleshooting & Support:
    • Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, slow queries, and outages.
    • Work with other cloud and application teams to resolve database incidents in a timely manner.
  • Azure Resource Management:
    • Manage and optimize Azure resources related to databases, such as compute, storage, and networking components.
    • Utilize Azure tools like Cost Management and Azure Advisor to optimize resource usage and minimize costs.
  • Database Migrations:
    • Plan and execute database migrations from on-premises or other cloud platforms to Azure using tools like Azure Database Migration Service.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Proven experience with SQL Server and Oracle database administration.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud services, particularly Azure SQL Database and/or Oracle on Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of database backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies.
  • Familiarity with Azure services like Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Monitor, and Azure Active Directory.
  • Experience with PowerShell, T-SQL, and PL/SQL for database automation and query optimization.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of database security practices and compliance standards.
Preferred Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience in SQL Server and Oracle database administration.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) certifications are a plus.
 
Experience with SQL Server, advanced knowledge of T-SQL, and strong skills in performance tuning and high-availability configurations
