About the Role:


The charter of the CP team has been continuously expanding since its inception. You will build, run and grow teams that are part of the ever expanding CP charter. We want to build a team that brings new ideas, technologies and expertise that Confluent has to offer to Self managed customer CP deployments. This necessitates the ability to handle open-ended strategy in this area - needs you to explore and experiment new ideas that benefit customers - not driven by a list of requirements to deliver. Building such engineering teams requires you to handle not only the operational and engineering excellence but also work on the roadmap; evolve vision and direction for the team. Collaborate with the rest of the organization to make progress on the roadmap and make the vision a reality.


What You Will Do:


  • You will work with a team of engineers and architects to help evolve the Confluent Platform.
  • Work closely with product management, engineering leadership, and other key stakeholders across various teams in Confluent to build and drive the overall roadmap.
  • Influence the overall domain health and operational hygiene for the Confluent Platform.
  • We are looking for you to be a leader for our CP Monitoring and Management Team driving our Hybrid strategy as the first goal.
  • Hybrid requires close collaboration across a minimum of 6-7 teams across the globe and timezones. This is a multi-year initiative to drive CP revenue with new acquisitions and renewal.
  • Hybrid is one of the key initiatives that the Confluent leadership team is fired-up about and actively driving across the organization.

What You Will Bring:


  • Overall 15+ years of experience in software development and engineering space.
  • At least 5+ years of engineering management experience leading productive, high-functioning teams and managers.
  • Ability to hire while ensuring a high hiring bar, keep engineers motivated, coach/mentor, and handle performance management.
  • A great track record of shipping features and hitting deadlines consistently; should be able to move fast, build in increments and iterate; have a sense of urgency, aggressive mindset towards achieving results and excellent prioritization skills; able to anticipate future technical needs for the product and craft plans to realize them.
  • Ability to influence the team, peers, and upper management using effective communication and collaborative techniques; focused on building and maintaining a culture of collaboration within the team.
  • Excellent communication skills.A self starter with the ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and operations.
  • Familiarity with Kafka or similar high-scale distributed event streaming platforms.Solid experience working with large private or public clouds.
