Job Description Automation Test Engineer (Java, Spring, Cucumber)

Position : Automation Test Engineer / SDET

Location : Bangalore

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Test Engineer with strong expertise in Java, Spring, and Cucumber to design and implement automation frameworks for large-scale enterprise applications. The ideal candidate should have solid programming skills in Java, hands-on experience with BDD frameworks, and the ability to work in an Agile/DevOps environment to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks using Java, Spring, and Cucumber (BDD).

- Write, review, and execute automation test scripts to validate functional, integration, and regression test scenarios.

- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, Maven, etc.).

- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA teams to define test cases and acceptance criteria.

- Work closely with product owners in an Agile/Scrum environment to ensure timely testing and feedback.

- Troubleshoot failures, perform root cause analysis, and work with developers to resolve issues.

- Contribute to test strategy, planning, and documentation.

- Ensure test coverage for both UI and API automation where applicable.

Required Skills

- Strong hands-on experience with Java programming.

- Expertise in Spring / Spring Boot (preferred for automation framework design).

- Proficiency in Cucumber (BDD framework) for writing test scenarios.

- Good understanding of TestNG / JUnit frameworks.

- Experience with Selenium WebDriver for UI automation.

- Hands-on with API automation tools (REST Assured, Postman, Karate, etc.).

- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Maven, Gradle).

- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and working in sprint-based delivery.

Good-to-Have Skills

- Knowledge of BDD best practices (Gherkin syntax, feature file structuring).

- Experience in Performance Testing (JMeter, Gatling).

- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

- Exposure to containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

- Domain knowledge in :

- Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

- 510 years of hands-on experience in test automation development.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with excellent communication.
