Lifecycle Assessment

Job Location: Karur, Tamil Nadu ( Applicants need to be local to the area)

Key Responsibilities:

The Programme Officer will report to the Project Lead based in CRB, New Delhi office, and be responsible for the following:

• As an LCA practitioner, you are focusing on conducting product (or process) LCA’s for SMEs in the apparel and textile sector in India especially in and around Karur.
• Using different tools (e.g. SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA, Ecochain) and databases.
• Your tasks include scope definition, data gathering, data analysis and reporting.
• You are expected to work autonomously on the lifecycle inventory (selecting appropriate secondary data or proxies).
• Next to that, you will provide support for the development of Product Environmental Footprinting strategies with companies or sector associations.
• Perform regulatory tracking related to sustainability topics and evaluate the business impact of changing regulatory requirements.
• Expertise in LCA methods, software applications, and environmental regulations is essential.
• Undertake research and help prepare reports on circular apparel and textiles trends and developments both in India and globally
• Undertake hotspot analysis and Life Cycle Assessment for manufacturers in the Indian apparel and textile sector
• Provide training and handholding support to SMEs in the apparel and textile sector in Karur and adjoining areas
• Help in coordination of local events and workshops as part of the project
• Preparation of relevant technical reports required in the project
• Support in organising relevant sessions at CRB's Annual Sustainability Summit - India and Sustainability Standards
• Support in the development of literature on circular apparel and textiles such as articles, blogs, briefing papers, social media posts etc.

Qualifications:

a)    Technical experience in life cycle assessment/Environment /Emissions/ Energy audits for small business.

b)   Experience in Textiles/Sustainability/Environment/ sectors is required

c)    At least 2 years of relevant experience conducting LCA

d)   Experience with LCA software tools (either SimaPro or Gabi or Ecochain or OpenLCA ) and good practical knowledge of standards for LCA and Product Carbon Footprint (ISO standards, GHG Protocol) is an absolute must.

e)    You are passionate about the topic, you are able to handle complexity, you have a flexible mindset, you value collaboration, and you have excellent communication skills in English and Tamil.

Experience:

a)    3-4 years of experience

Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and project management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.

Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
