We take active trade positions with back-to-back buy-sell arrangements while collaborating with 3PL service providers, establishing operational quality control SOPs, and offering multiple payment solutions.Position SummaryThe Assistant Manager, Sales will support the Ferrous Sales function in driving revenue growth, managing customer accounts, and ensuring seamless commercial operations. The role requires strong industry understanding, customer engagement capability, and disciplined execution. The incumbent will manage key accounts, generate new business opportunities, coordinate cross-functionally for fulfillment, and support strategic initiatives led by the GM, Sales. Key Responsibilities1. Sales & Business DevelopmentManage sales for assigned products, geographies, and customer accounts in the ferrous/steel portfolio.Identify and acquire new customers while strengthening relationships with existing accounts.Execute pricing strategies, negotiate commercial terms, and close deals within defined margins and policies.Support the GM, Sales in expanding presence across new markets and customer segments.2. Customer Relationship ManagementEngage with customers regularly to understand demand, product needs, and service expectations.Prepare and present product offerings, proposals, and commercial quotes.Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive communication and service quality.3. Sales Operations & Order ExecutionCoordinate with procurement, logistics, and finance teams to ensure smooth order processing, documentation, and delivery.Track order status, ensure timely fulfilment, and resolve operational bottlenecks.Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipelines, and CRM entries in alignment with internal reporting standards.Manage receivables for assigned accounts, monitor credit exposure, and support timely collections.4. Market Intelligence & ReportingTrack competitor pricing, market movements, and customer buying patterns.Provide inputs to the GM, Sales for pricing decisions, demand planning, and business strategy.Prepare weekly/monthly reports on sales performance, pipeline status, and market updates.5. Compliance & Process AdherenceEnsure adherence to commercial terms, quality standards, and internal SOPs.Support the implementation of operational improvements and best practices across the sales cycle.Maintain documentation accuracy for audit, compliance, and risk-management purposes.Qualifications & ExperienceEducationBachelor's degree in Engineering (Metallurgical, Mechanical, Civil, or Materials – (preferred but not mandatory).MBA/PGDM in Sales/Marketing (preferred but not mandatory).Experience3-8 years of B2B project sales experience in steel, ferrous trading, distribution, or related industries.Experience in customer handling, sales negotiation, and managing order fulfilment cycles.Exposure to trading, pricing, or logistics in the steel industry is desirable.Skills & AttributesStrong customer orientation and relationship-building skills.Good commercial acumen with an understanding of pricing, margins, and trade terms.Excellent communication, negotiation, and coordination abilities.Strong analytical aptitude and comfort with data-driven decision-making.High levels of ownership, discipline, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in MS Excel, reporting dashboards, and CRM tools.
