Summary of Job:

To best support the cybersecurity bootcamp and the engineering product we produce, this DevOps Engineer will help to properly execute tasks relating to existing and future maintenance of our labs, such as ensuring that access is properly managed, monitoring is implemented, and continuity plans are in place. In addition to the maintenance of our current infrastructure and development, the potential for cyber range products impacts this role, but the extent to which is dependent on our decision to build, buy, or lease a platform. Building would require the most hands-on involvement from this role as the expected tasks as they relate to our current labs would essentially apply to any new lab applications we create. Leasing and buying would require due-diligence of third-party platforms, evaluating their cloud capabilities and scalability compared to our needs and uses, and managing communication between our engineering team and providers.

Key Role and Responsibilities:

1. Design, implement, and manage DevOps capabilities in the cloud using CI/CD toolsets and automation. (15%)

2. Ensure DevOps systems are robust in the sense they can scale, handle rapid growth, and limit exposure to single points of failure and security vulnerabilities.(15%)

3. Support build and release automation pipelines. (20%)

4. Deploy virtual lab environments in public/ private clouds. (20%)

5. Plan, install and deploy highly available solutions in the public cloud. (10%)

6. Manage entire pipelines and work with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Vagrant, Docker, Packer, Powershell and Azure/AWS CLI. (10%)

7. Integrate test data provisioning with automated environment provisioning. (10%)

Education and Experience:

- Familiarity with Azure Classroom Labs; Shared Image Galleries; and processes for creating Managed Images

- Experience with foundational concepts of web architecture, e.g., REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL storage solutions, multi-tier architectures, etc.

- Experience with serverless solutions and distributed architectures

- Experience provisioning and deploying VMs and Docker containers

- Experience with infrastructure as code tools, e.g. Ansible; Terraform; Pulumi; etc.

- Programming in Python or JavaScript

- Fluency in both Bash and PowerShell

- Familiarity with the fundamentals of Windows and Linux system administration

- Experience communicating technical features, solutions, and troubleshooting steps with less-stakeholders

- Experience with pair-programming and collaborative, PR-based engineering workflows

Working Conditions:

- This role typically works 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM with breaks throughout the day. Occasional and rare travel may be needed.

Physical Requirements:

- This role will primarily be sedentary using a computer, keyboard, and telephone to perform most duties.
