Block Coordinator

Job Description

The Block Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the effective implementation of the Gavi Bihar Project at the block level, with a focus on improving full immunization coverage—particularly for zero-dose, hesitant, and refusal cases. The role will involve close collaboration with the government health department, community platforms such as VHSNDs and SHGs, frontline health workers, Panchayati Raj Institutions, and local influencers to drive demand generation and improve access to routine immunization services.

Key Deliverables (include but are not limited to):

Capacity Building of Frontline Workers (FLWs)

• Identify and compile lists of potential community-based workers (ANMs, ASHAs, Anganwadi Workers, etc.).
  
• Organize and support training sessions to build their capacity in line with project objectives.
  

Field Monitoring & Data Collection

• Travel to field sites to collect data on immunization status, conduct evaluations, and administer feedback surveys.
  
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of block-level progress and challenges.
  
  

Implementation Support & Problem-Solving

• Identify operational challenges at the block level and propose innovative, practical solutions.
  
• Undertake regular field visits to monitor project activities.
  
• Facilitate linkages with Panchayat institutions, government departments, SHGs, and other local stakeholders.
  

Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination

• Build strong working relationships with block-level health and immunization officials, including Medical Officers, Block Program Managers, and other relevant staff.
  
• Participate in block-level health review meetings to present project progress, share data insights, and advocate for focused interventions for zero-dose or hesitant children.
  
• Ensure alignment of project activities with government immunization plans and priorities.
  

Knowledge Sharing & Documentation

• Identify, document, and disseminate best practices, success stories, and innovations emerging from the block.
  
  

Coordination & Support

• Assist with and participate in other Wadhwani AI activities aligned with the project’s objectives.

Requirements
M.Tech./M.E./M.S./M.Sc. or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or a relevant quantitative field with work experience of 6+ years or a PhD from a reputed institute. Experience and expertise in ASR are preferred. Experience and expertise with LLMs are nice-to-have. We are looking for ML Scientists with experience applying AI, machine learning, and data science to real-world problems. Ideal candidates should have a strong research background, have experience in mentoring junior researchers through strong code practices and ideation, and be adept at a variety of data mining/analysis methods and tools, building and implementing models, visualising data, creating/using algorithms, and running simulations. Familiarity with popular deep learning algorithms is a strong plus; however, demonstrated willingness and ability to learn will also be considered. Candidates should be comfortable working with cross-functional teams and must have excellent oral and written communication skills and a track record of driving projects to completion. Evidence of written skills through high-quality research publications is a plus. Candidates should be passionate about using their technical skills to solve large, societally important problems.
