Job Description


Responsibilities:


  • Work as part of K&A Power & Renewables team.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for successful completion of assigned projects and for maintaining and improving client relationships as well as developing and growing new technical service areas.
  • Plan engineering project deliverables with stakeholders
  • Preparing & reviewing the design schemes, analysing and creating the technical requirements; recommending design concepts/ modifications based on client requirements.
  • Apply guidelines, processes and systems to lead to best practice.
  • Contribute to network security obligations.
  • Identify and implement improvements to design and processes.
  • Technical competence in engineering, roles as well as leadership competence in working with clients and mentoring, supervising team members assigned to projects.
  • Perform engineering design, design review and validation.
  • Provide conceptual and preliminary design, detailed design, option analysis, scope and specification of AIS & GIS Substation up to 400 kV.
  • Other duties as directed commensurate with individual’s skills


Primary Design For AIS/GIS Up to 400 kV: -


  • Listing and scheduling all the technical deliverables.
  • To deliver a high-quality Primary design includes preparing Single line Diagram (SLD), Protection and Metering SLD, Plan layout and sections of substation, clearance drawing, Cable Trench layout, GIS/Control Building General Arrangement drawing along with plan and sections, Cable trench Plan for HV Cable & Tray Layout for GIS/Control Building Basement, Earthing and Lightning (Building & Yard) layout etc.
  • Design Calculations for erathing, lightning protection, Sag tension, short circuit force, conductor (Rigid and Flexible) sizing, Cantilever strength, CT/VT Sizing, Auxiliary Transformer, Battery & Battery Charger, UPS, DG set, NGR/Grounding Transformer sizing and Cable sizing (LV, MV & HV) etc.
  • Preparation of Lighting (Indoor/Outdoor) layout, Small power layout, LV AC/DC SLD, cable schedule, Interconnection schedule, Erection Key Diagram, Al Tube cutting Schedule, Bill of Materials (BOMs) etc.
  • Perform indoor Lighting, outdoor area Illumination calculations in Dialux software.
  • Candidate Should be well versed with various busbar schemes.
  • Responsible for generation of BOQ for Grounding, Cable Tray, LV power/control cable, Lighting, Clamps & Connectors, Busbar etc.
  • Preparing Technical specifications and Data sheet of all equipment for Substation.
  • Reviewing of various supplier’s equipment drawings, documents including schematics and issue approval.
  • Coordination with Mechanical & Civil Team & provide them necessary inputs for Structure and HVAC design.
  • Ability to carry out inter discipline coordination and coordinate effectively with Lead office.
  • Basic Knowledge of SAS and Control & Protection System
  • Lead & Monitoring of the engineering delivery progress as per the engineering programme of the project, escalating issues as and when required to the manager.
  • Effective task management through performance management of design engineers and CAD Technicians.
  • Ensure accountability and delivery as also profitability by monitoring design cost.
  • Actively share knowledge and experience with other staff in the section and organization particularly to help coach and develop more junior staff.



Other requirements: -


  • Understanding user’s problem and provide technical solutions.
  • Preparation of status reports, procedures for analyzing report progress of the project to stakeholders and end user/clients
  • Lead day to day liaison with Middle East and Africa PMs and engineers to ensure project deliverables are developed in accordance with client scope, budget, project schedule and quality requirements.
  • Conduct internal review and quality checks of engineering drawings and design calculations to ensure compliance with the project's requirements.
  • Support the Design Manager with resource and other management duties.
  • Providing leadership, training, guidance and instruction to new staff members.
  • Support project teams, marketing, business development, and technical support.
  • Provide technical supports to preparation of proposals, case studies and project presentations.
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.


Essential qualifications:


  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University.
  • Minimum 13+ years relevant design experience in T&D(AIS & GIS upto 400kV SS) engineering environment with Utilities, EPC Contractors or Design Consultancies.
  • Able to independently generate project deliverables.
  • Should be well conversant on AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux, ETAP.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills within the engineering environment.
  • Should be familiar with industry codes and standards and have experience as the technical lead on projects.
  • Knowledge about SEC, Saudi Aramco, IEC, IEEE, EN, BS, NFPA, Cigre, NBC and other international standards.
