Lead Cloud Architect – Azure

Location: Remote ( Preferred Hyderabad location candidates )

Position Overview

Client is seeking an experienced Lead Cloud Architect with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure to drive architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise-grade cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with proven experience in Azure Landing Zones, cloud migration, automation, and cloud-native services. This role requires a strong balance of technical depth, strategic thinking, and leadership to guide cross-functional teams and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of Azure Landing Zones and enterprise cloud architectures.
  • Define and enforce cloud architecture best practices, governance, and security frameworks.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into secure, scalable cloud solutions.
  • Architect and deliver cloud migration strategies, including assessment, planning, and execution.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, ARM templates, and Bicep.
  • Drive automation through CI/CD pipelines leveraging Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
  • Provide thought leadership on adoption of cloud-native services including:
  • Azure App Services
  • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Azure Cosmos DB
  • Azure SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI)
  • Mentor engineering teams on architecture, DevOps, and IaC best practices.
  • Ensure solutions meet performance, reliability, security, and compliance standards.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 12+ years in IT with a strong focus on Cloud Architecture & Engineering.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Azure experience across enterprise-scale environments.
  • Proven experience with Azure Landing Zones and enterprise cloud adoption frameworks.
  • Strong expertise in Terraform, ARM templates, and Bicep for IaC.
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD automation using Azure DevOps and GitHub workflows.
  • Proficiency in Python and YAML for scripting and automation.
  • Strong background in cloud migration methodologies (lift & shift, re-architecture, modernization).
  • Hands-on experience with Azure App Services, AKS, Cosmos DB, SQL MI.
  • Excellent knowledge of Azure networking, identity, governance, and security services.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to drive cross-functional initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Azure certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
  • Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITRUST, NIST, etc.).
  • Prior experience in a consulting or professional services environment.
