Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Role Overview:Unibose Technology Private Limited, Asia’s pioneer in ATEX Zone-0 certified No-Man Entry Robotic (NMER) systems, is looking for a seasoned Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of next-generation robotic solutions for cleaning and inspection of industrial tanks and confined spaces across oil & gas, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical sectors.You will own the complete mechanical design of highly reliable, explosion-proof robots capable of operating in diverse tank geometries and the harshest hazardous environments. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines deep technical expertise in 3D CAD, hydraulics & pneumatics, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver safe, field-proven robotic systems that eliminate human entry into dangerous confined spaces.Key Responsibilities:Lead end-to-end mechanical design of NMER platforms — robotic arms, chassis, track/wheeled mobility systems, hydraulic & pneumatic actuators, toolings, and integration with inspection payloads.Develop and optimize explosion-proof (ATEX/IECEx Zone-0) 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.Perform design calculations, FEA simulations, material selection (corrosion-resistant & spark-proof), GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis.Drive design reviews, DFMEA, and compliance with ATEX, ASME, ISO, and industry-specific standards.Work closely with electrical, software, manufacturing, and testing teams to take designs from concept through prototyping, field trials, and series production.Coordinate with vendors and shop floor for CNC machining, welding, surface treatment, jigs & fixtures, and assembly processes.Mentor junior engineers and ensure best design practices are followed.Act as the technical interface with clients — present designs, justify solutions, and incorporate feedback.Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during prototype testing and field deployments.Continuously improve designs for reliability, serviceability, weight optimization, and cost.Required Skills and Experience:B.E. / B.Tech / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field.Minimum 6 years of hands-on mechanical design experience, with at least 3 years in hydraulics, pneumatics, and robotics/automation (senior or lead role preferred).Proven portfolio of designing hydraulic & pneumatic systems and robust mechanical assemblies for industrial machinery or robots.Full product development cycle experience — concept to certified production — preferably in hazardous or confined-space applications.Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (CNC machining, sheet metal, welding, jigs & fixtures).Essential Skills:Expert in SolidWorks (advanced modeling, simulation, PDM) and AutoCAD.In-depth understanding of kinematics, dynamics, fluid power, strength of materials, and explosion-proof design principles.Proficient in FEA tools (SolidWorks Simulation / ANSYS), GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).Excellent verbal & written communication — capable of presenting to clients and leadership.Strong project management, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.Attention to detail with a passion for safety, quality, and field reliability.Why Unibose:Be part of a pioneering robotics startup making a real impact in industrial safety and automation.Lead challenging engineering projects with end-to-end ownership.Collaborate with visionary leaders and technologists.Contribute to patentable innovations and build the future of industrial robotics.How to Apply:Interested candidates can share their updated resume at:📧 sakthivel@unibose.comLocation: Maraimalai Nagar, ChennaiExperience: 6–12 YearsEmployment Type: Full-TimeReports To: CTOCTC: ₹10–16 LPA
