About The Role
As the Head of Global Travel Procurement at HCL Technologies, you will lead a team responsible for managing and optimizing global travel procurement strategies including MICE Operations . This role requires a strong leader with deep expertise in travel and expense (T&E) management, supplier relationship management, and procurement operations. You will play a critical role in enhancing the travel procurement function by driving efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and exceptional service quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sourcing Methodology & Governance: Implement and continuously improve a best-practice sourcing methodology and governance framework, providing greater visibility and control over strategic sourcing initiatives within the travel domain.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with travel suppliers, including airlines, hotel chains, and corporate card providers. Work closely with supplier and service delivery management teams to achieve high levels of service quality while securing favorable commercial terms.
- Travel & Expense Program Management: Oversee the Corporate Card and Travel Program worldwide, ensuring strategic relationships with T&E suppliers are effectively managed. Drive policy changes and ensure all processes are well-documented.
- Issue Resolution & Escalation: Serve as the primary point of contact for escalations related to travel issues and emergencies, providing support to resolve challenges effectively and efficiently.
- Transformation Initiatives: Lead and drive transformation initiatives within the T&E Program to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Continuous Improvement Culture: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation within the Procurement Operations team, encouraging similar behaviors among suppliers.
- Strategic Vision: Develop and execute a long-term vision for HCL's Global Travel Procurement, including processes, policies, and systems that support the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Cost Management & Savings: Deliver significant and sustainable cost reductions through best-in-class sourcing and procurement practices, using robust savings methodologies and achieving rigorous approvals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Provide key support to sourcing teams during competitive bids, contract execution, and management processes, ensuring smooth operations across functions.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Advanced degrees or certifications in procurement or travel management are a plus.
- Experience: 12+ Years experience in managing global travel and expense programs, with a proven track record in procurement operations within a large, global organization.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated ability to implement and manage digital solutions that support Source-to-Pay systems and travel management tools.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, with experience in developing high-quality sourcing materials, including spend analysis, business cases, RFx documentation, and SOPs.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the travel procurement marketplace and industry trends, with the ability to assess and adapt to changes in sourcing strategies.
- Leadership & Communication: Excellent leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills, with the ability to drive high performance within the team. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence senior executives and stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, exercising independent judgment and recognizing critical business impacts.
- Relationship Management: Strong external and internal relationship management skills, with experience in cross-functional leadership.
