Role Summary:

We are seeking a Senior T- SQL Developer with 10+ years of experience to support high- performance transactional data systems for a global US- based bank. This individual contributor role demands deep expertise in T- SQL programming, database schema optimization, and SQL Server performance tuning within regulated environments. The candidate will collaborate closely with cross- functional teams to maintain scalable, secure, and compliant data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop, optimize, and maintain complex stored procedures, functions, and triggers using advanced T- SQL features such as joins, CTEs, window functions, and dynamic SQL.

- Analyze and tune query performance using execution plans, indexing strategies, and performance metrics, optimizing queries that handle millions of rows.

- Participate in schema design discussions applying normalization rules, defining primary and foreign keys, and recommending indexing strategies based on data access patterns.

- Manage transactions and concurrency, including isolation levels, nested transactions, retry logic, and troubleshooting blocking or deadlocks.

- Use SQL Server management tools like SSMS, Dynamic Management Views (DMVs), Activity Monitor, and Query Store for diagnostics and troubleshooting.

- Ensure high code quality through peer reviews and adherence to SQL coding standards, collaborating effectively with team members.

Skills:

- Advanced T- SQL programming with extensive experience writing and maintaining stored procedures, functions, triggers, dynamic SQL, joins, CTEs, and window functions.

- Strong skills in query tuning and optimization using indexing, execution plan analysis, and SQL Server performance tools.

- Experience in database schema design, normalization, key management, and index strategy formulation.

- Deep understanding of SQL Server transactions, isolation levels, locking, concurrency issues, and deadlock troubleshooting.

- Proficiency in SQL Server tools including SSMS, DMVs, Activity Monitor, and Query Store.

- Familiarity with code review processes and collaborative development best practices.

- Exposure to cloud- based SQL platforms like Azure SQL Database or Synapse Analytics (preferred).

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for database deployments using Azure DevOps or Git is a plus.

- Knowledge of SQL unit testing frameworks such as tSQLt is advantageous.

- Familiarity with SQL Server monitoring and schema comparison tools (e.g., Redgate, SentryOne).

- Basic understanding of SQL Server BI tools including SSIS (ETL), SSRS (reporting), and SSAS.

- Awareness of security and compliance requirements including SOX and GDPR, with practical experience supporting these standards.
