Your Role at a Glance:
In this critical position, you will lead fire safety initiatives and ensure that all fire and life safety measures are up to date and compliant with local laws. You’ll be responsible for executing fire safety audits, managing emergency protocols, conducting fire drills, and training staff on fire prevention techniques. You’ll collaborate with various departments to implement best practices and work closely with local authorities and inspectors to maintain a safe environment for everyone in the hotel.
What You’ll Do:
In this role, you will ensure fire safety compliance with local laws and regulations, including the National Building Code (NBC) and Fire Services Acts. You will conduct regular fire audits and building safety inspections to keep all systems up to date and fully functional. Additionally, you will design, schedule, and lead fire and life safety training sessions for staff, along with conducting simulation drills to maintain readiness in emergencies. Your responsibilities include managing and reviewing fire safety systems such as fire alarms, sprinklers, smoke detectors, and extinguishers, ensuring they are regularly checked. Liaising with government authorities, including fire services, for inspections and certifications will also be essential. In the event of a fire emergency, you will respond promptly to ensure swift, organized evacuations. You will also collaborate with contractors and engineers for fire safety installations and upgrades, making sure all improvements comply with the hotel’s architectural integrity. Finally, you will maintain detailed records of fire safety logs, training attendance, and inspection reports, while applying your knowledge of first aid and safety measures across various situations and circumstances.
Who You Are:
- A certified fire and safety professional with 5+ years of experience, preferably within the hospitality industry or similar high-profile settings.
- Knowledgeable about local fire laws, fire code compliance, fire safety systems, and emergency protocols.
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills to train and coordinate fire safety across departments.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and adept at managing emergency situations with calmness and precision.
- Tech-savvy with experience in managing and monitoring fire safety equipment and systems.
