Vanarai is a 37-year-old NGO founded by PadmaVibhushan Dr. Mohan Dharia, working for sustainable rural development and environment conservation in the various States and Union Territories in India. We are working on various sustainable development projects in partnership with corporations and Government Departments. We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team as a Research Assistant.



Required qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in a reputed organization or research institute in Watershed Management
  • Preferred educational qualification: Bachelor / Masters in Rural Development, Agricultural Engg. Masters in social work, sociology, economics, rural development, development studies, or relevant field / Natural Resource Management.
  • Strong persuasive communication skills, both verbal and written, including public speaking and presentation skills (English, Marathi and Hindi).
  • Knowledge and willingness to work in the social sector for the environment, rural development, and allied fields.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to integrate diverse quantitative and qualitative data, as demonstrated by prior involvement in producing well-written publications on sustainable development and social issues indicators and measurements.
  • Strong skills in analysis, critical thinking, strategic planning, reporting and presentation.


Responsibilities:


I. Research

  • Design and develop (socio-economic) research projects: Need assessment and impact assessment projects, Community level surveys, Coordination of data collection, Compilation as well as data analysis for the purpose of preparing detailed Project Reports.
  • Develop and Implement MIS (Management Information System), Monitoring and evaluation tools and formats for all programs/projects
  • Develop/utilize/maintain templates for capturing all project activities
  • Guidelines, SOP, formats, and templates development and effective execution for generating various reports (Ex. Project monitoring reports, management reports, progress reports, assessment reports, project completion reports, annual reports etc.)
  • Pimary Research Designing and Execution.
  • Design and develop community-level surveys and coordination of data collection, compilation, and data analysis
  • Undertake field visits to support the implementation of the Management Information System (MIS) and identify gaps and provide solutions
  • Ensure reports and findings are communicated effectively through close collaboration with the project team
  • Undertake secondary research for project development activities.
  • Undertake desk research on international-national scenarios to correlate the thematic issues of the project areas.
  • Undertake the evaluation of ongoing projects and prepare Detailed Impact reports for every project. For this purpose, studying and learning the 'Theory of Change' and Social Return on Investment is important.
  • To study, generate leads, and follow up on opportunities and partnerships for knowledge exchange, grants, and other activities with international and national organizations and agencies that are working for environment conservation and rural development. This includes publishing papers on impact and social change at various events.
  • Ensure that all proposals align with the vision and mission of the organization
  • Write grant proposal narratives, concept notes, applications, and supporting documents by coordinating with concerned departments and subject matter experts of the organization
  • Manage the proposal submission process to ensure timely submission of all required materials. 



II. Project Management

  • Write grant proposal narratives, concept notes, applications, and supporting documents by coordinating with concerned departments and subject matter experts of the Organization. This can be a part of the DPR that is being prepared.
  • Develop/utilize/maintain templates for capturing all project activities.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports and completion reports.
  • Develop other reports as and when required.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of the projects as per the organization's standards or donor's needs.
  • Develop and implement MIS (Management Information System), Monitoring and Evaluation Tools and formats for all programs/projects.
