Burson is looking for Account Manager for our Gurugram Office. The individual will join our Public Affairs & Advocacy team. Our PA team comprises of lawyers, communication specialists, research experts and journalists as well as senior policy advisors who have worked with the Government for many years.


As an Account Manager in the Public Affairs division, you are required to support the day-to-day management for clients through analysis and impact of sectoral policies of relevance, understanding of stakeholders and the process, provide insights and ideas to develop advocacy programmes, and own the execution of the plans (purely public affairs and/or integrated communication programmes) working in close coordination with the client and the team. You will be working on multiple clients and strong verbal and writing skills are a pre-requisite for this role. In addition, you will be expected to contribute towards generating new business and growing existing client relationships. We have a sharp focus on efficiently and effectively delivering on impactful programmes for clients and look for candidates who have a strong sense of ownership and are comfortable with being individual contributors while collaborating with the team.


CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Service:

  • Stay current on your clients’ businesses, industries and competitors and use your knowledge to develop comprehensive, strategic, public affairs & advocacy programs that complement the client’s business objectives and deliver results.
  • Work closely with other business practices to develop and implement integrated campaigns and programs.
  • Work closely with the government relations advisors in ensuring timely execution of the campaign/ project.
  • Lead outreach and engagement with think tanks, industry bodies, media, and other influencers of policy, on behalf of clients and as part of the client outreach plan.
  • Stays abreast of policies & bills and takes an active interest in the client’s business to pre-empt issues and provide strategic counsel to clients.
  • Act as a day-to-day client leader and maintain a clear and consistent communication channel between the client and the account team.
  • Be actively involved and oversee quality implementation for one or a group of accounts within time and budget constraints.
  • Manage client relationships and be the client’s key contact, counselor, and strategic thinker.
  • Timely Decision Making – The ability to identify a problem and find solutions. Makes decisions promptly, using available information and under tight deadlines.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills including development of various types of materials such as policy papers, messaging documents etc.


Business Development:

  • Support the Directors and other senior leaders to identify new business opportunities within existing and potential clients.
  • Be proactive during new business brainstorms and take ownership of portions of new business proposals under the guidance of Directors and senior leaders.


Talent Management:

  • Coach and mentor junior team members and help them grow within the organization and are able to add value to the client and the team.
  • Create an inclusive and welcoming environment that engages all individuals without bias and demonstrate flexibility in a changing work environment.
  • Provide on the job training to new team members on day-to-day tasks, delegate tasks to junior team members with clarity and oversee quality implementation within specified timelines.


Financial Management:

  • Record time in Maconomy and make supervisors aware of your time spent so our business can be managed profitably.
  • Ensure all activities carried out for clients are properly documented and status reports are submitted.


Agency Responsibilities:

  • Use Burson's intranet and resources; keep your profile updated.
  • Be a brand ambassador and help in recruiting top talent by knowing our capabilities network.


Experience – 4+ years of work experience in identified areas.


Education – Graduate/ Postgraduate in Law, Economics, Public Policy, Political Science, Business & International Affairs and Communications (with specialization in government/policy communication).
