Role : SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test)

Overview :

An SDET is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software products across web, mobile, and API platforms. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and test cases, while also performing manual testing when needed. The SDET will play a critical role in integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines, validating data integrity through database testing, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software products.

Key Responsibilities :

Test Design and Development :

- Develop comprehensive test strategies and plans based on project requirements.

- Design, document, and execute automated and manual test cases for web, mobile, API, and database testing.

- Collaborate with developers and product teams to understand system architecture and requirements.

Test Automation :

- Build and maintain scalable, reusable test automation frameworks (e.g., Data-Driven, Page Object Model).

- Create and execute automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, Appium, and WebDriverIO.

- Identify areas for automation and implement efficient, scalable solutions to enhance test coverage.

CI/CD Integration :

- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.

- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD workflows to ensure early detection of defects.

- Continuously optimize CI/CD processes for reliability, speed, and efficiency.

Web, Mobile, and API Testing :

- Perform end-to-end testing for web and mobile applications, ensuring functionality and compatibility.

- Validate API behavior, integration points, and performance.

- Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility.

Database Testing :

- Write and execute complex SQL queries to validate data integrity and transformations.

- Test data migration and ETL processes for accuracy and performance.

Collaboration and Agile Practices :

- Work closely with developers, DevOps, and product managers to understand requirements and user stories.

- Actively participate in agile ceremonies, providing insights on quality and testability.

Problem Solving and Debugging :

- Analyze test failures and identify root causes.

- Collaborate with developers to debug and resolve issues.

- Proactively identify gaps in testing and suggest improvements.

Documentation :

- Maintain clear and detailed documentation of test frameworks, test cases, and results.

- Update and enhance test documentation as the system evolves.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

- 5+ years of experience in automation and manual testing.

- Expertise in test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium, WebDriverIO) and scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript).

- Experience with web, mobile, API, and database testing.

- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration of test automation.

- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.

- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.

Key Competencies :

- Proficiency in automation frameworks and scripting languages.

- Strong SQL and database querying skills.

- Deep understanding of CI/CD processes and tools.

- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking.
