Assistant/Associate Professor of Architecture

Responsibilities:

Teaching:Design studios at all levels (undergraduate and graduate)

  • Core architecture courses (e.g., building technology, history/theory, design history)
  • May include elective courses in areas of specialization (e.g., sustainable design, digital design, urban design)


Research:Conduct independent and collaborative research in areas of architectural and design scholarship, such as:

  • Design theory and history
  • Building technology and performance
  • Digital design and fabrication
  • Sustainable and resilient design
  • Urban design and planning
  • Architectural history and theory
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, books, and other scholarly outlets.
  • Present research at national and international conferences.
  • Seek external funding to support research activities.


Service:Serve on departmental and university committees.

  • Participate in professional service activities, such as jury service, professional organizations, and community engagement.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and program assessment.


Qualifications:

Assistant Professor:Terminal degree in Architecture (M.Arch or Ph.D.) or a closely related field.

  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, research, and service.
  • Strong design portfolio and evidence of teaching effectiveness.


Associate Professor:All qualifications for Assistant Professor, plus:

  • A distinguished record of scholarly and creative activity, including publications, presentations, and external funding.
  • Successful experience in teaching, mentoring, and advising students.
  • Evidence of leadership and service within the profession and the academic community.
