Job Summary :

Work will centre on integrating postgresSQL data including JSON into an Oracle data warehouse through ETL and to adjust, maintain and support the reporting architecture. Ongoing work will be to support the needs of the clients through custom development.

Key Responsibilities :

1. ETL Development :

- Design, develop and deploy code that integrates the source to the Oracle DWH for daily reporting by the business.

2. Code Quality and Reliability :

- Write clean, clear and efficient code that can be maintained by a small team.

- Follow best practices to build reliable code that is fault tolerant and easily maintained.

3. Collaboration and Code Review :

- Work with multiple teams including DBA, and reporting teams supporting the reporting suites.

- Participate in code reviews to maintain high-quality code.

4. Testing and Debugging :

- Test and verify code changes to verify data is consistent attention to detail is important.

- Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues.

5. Database Design and Management :

- Build queries, datasets, views and applications to support business needs..

- Create and maintain development postgreSQL system .

6. API Integration and Development :

- Write and maintain API programs in Python.

- Create alerts and data feeds.

7. Support :

- Some out of hours and on call support is required on rotation, including weekends to deal with issues.

8. Documentation :

- Document data workflows, rules and support instructions.

- Documentation of existing system

- Documentation of PostgreSQL

9. Continuous Improvement :

- Keep informed of the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure the applications are kept up to date.

Required Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

- 3+ years of professional experience in database development.

- Proficiency in working with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL),

- Strong programming skills in languages such as SQL, PL/SQL, plpgsql, SQLplus and Python

- Ability to script windows batch files and SQLplus

- Ability to understand and manipulate JSON datasets

- Experience with data modelling, data warehousing and ETL frameworks.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with Oracle APEX

- Experience with writing apis for sending and receiving data
