New Delhi, India Centre for Responsible Business Full time

ABOUT CENTRE FOR RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS

Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) was established in 2011 as a think-tank to pursue its vision -  ‘businesses integrate sustainability into their core business practices’. Given that sustainability is a multi-dimensional problem, CRB has adopted a model of engaging multiple stakeholders to develop action plans for promoting sustainable/responsible business, across various sectors in India. The work of CRB spans over four operational verticals namely, a) action and policy work; b) training and capacity building c) customized advisory services d) multi-stakeholder knowledge fora.

The organization works across a diverse set of thematic areas which include (i) Business & Human Rights; (ii) Private Sector & SDGs; (iii) MSMEs & sustainability; (iv) Circular economy and(v) Voluntary sustainability standards. With over a decade of experience, CRB has emerged as one of the leading think tanks on sustainable development/sustainable business. More information can be found at www.c4rb.org.

OVERVIEW: BUSINESS & HUMAN RIGHTS

Business & Human Rights (BHR) forms a crucial pillar at CRB, as its interventions cut across all the thematic areas. The BHR vertical spreads across four operational areas, including policy work, capacity development, multi-stakeholder dialogues and advisory.

In the past, the BHR team has supported the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in the development of India’s first National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights; undertaken human rights due diligence in supply chain/value chain and related research and actions for large Indian companies and multinational companies; organised capacity building and awareness raising workshops with relevant stakeholders including large companies, Micro Medium & Small Enterprises, experts and civil societies on BHR related topics such as human rights due diligence, relevant global and domestic laws/ regulations/ expectations, grievance redressal mechanisms, good practices, stakeholder management and case studies.

At CRB our endeavour is to further build and expand our work on BHR. The importance of this subject has been accentuated particularly in the wake of the ongoing crises (social, economic and ecological), disruptions in global value chains and subsequent expectations for companies and stakeholders to step up responsibility, transparency and accountability. In this regard, CRB is not just looking at executing its current projects, but also working on taking forward the knowledge, expertise and networks built over the years to enhance its imprint within this domain.[1]
