
Unit-Level Traceability Technical Expert – OSAT

Role Summary
The Unit-Level Traceability Technical Expert will be responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining traceability systems that capture, store, and retrieve manufacturing data at the individual unit/device level in an OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly & Test) environment. This role ensures compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and internal quality objectives while enabling advanced analytics for yield, reliability, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
1. System Design & Implementation
- Design traceability solutions capable of capturing data for each unit/device across all OSAT manufacturing stages (assembly, test, packaging).
- Define and implement data structures, barcoding/2D marking, and serialization methodologies.
- Collaborate with MES and automation teams for seamless integration of traceability workflows into production systems.
2. Integration & Data Flow
- Integrate traceability systems with MES, ERP (SAP), PLM, QMS, SPC, and equipment automation systems.
- Ensure high-speed, low-latency data capture and retrieval to support manufacturing throughput.
- Work with automation engineers for real-time equipment connectivity (SECS/GEM, OPC-UA, MQTT).
3. Data Management & Compliance
- Define data retention policies with QA, storage architectures, and retrieval mechanisms in line with customer, ISO/IATF, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with traceability standards for automotive, aerospace, medical, and semiconductor customers.
- Conduct system audits to validate data accuracy and completeness.
4. Analytics & Reporting
- Build dashboards and reporting tools to provide real-time and historical traceability insights.
- Support root cause analysis, yield improvement, and customer reporting needs.
- Leverage traceability data for predictive analytics and defect correlation.
5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Evaluate and implement Industry 4.0 and AI-driven solutions for automated traceability and defect correlation.
- Benchmark and adopt best practices from global semiconductor manufacturing leaders.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s in Electronics, Computer Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- Master’s degree or industry certifications in manufacturing systems preferred.
Experience:
- 5–8 years in manufacturing IT or automation roles, with hands-on experience in unit-level traceability systems.
- Experience in OSAT, semiconductor, or high-volume electronics manufacturing.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of MES traceability modules and serialization systems.
- Proficiency in database management (SQL, NoSQL) and data visualization (Power BI, Tableau).
- Familiarity with marking and reading technologies (laser marking, 2D/QR/barcode scanning).
- Experience with industrial protocols (SECS/GEM, OPC-UA) and automation integration.
- Knowledge of AI/ML applications in defect correlation and yield improvement (preferred).
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical skills and detail orientation.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration with engineering, quality, and operations teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a high-pressure manufacturing environment.
