Main Purpose

To plan and carry out /supervise drilling Operations of CBM wells as per plan. Implementation of RIL safety and statutory compliances at rig site & monitor contractor performance.


Job Accountabilities

  • Work as company man in drilling rig.
  • Coordinate with G&G, LAQ and civil, electrical team for availability of well sites. Participate in joint site surveys to ensure that site and AR are constructed to ensure easy passage of Rigs and associated equipment to well sites and site clearance prior to rig movement.
  • Implementation of RIL safety and statuary compliances at rig site.
  • Experience in drilling of deviated/ horizontal wells and trouble-shooting well complications.
  • Overall responsibility for all day-to-day rig site operations including the ILM/Rig movement.
  • Active participation in all safety related activity on site like safety drills, internal and external audits, motivation for stop card participations, best stop card reward ceremony.
  • Monitoring the performance of contractor, other third-party services and NPT analysis.
  • Preparation of quarterly score cards for various contractors.
  • Inventory management and on-site drilling consumables record.
  • Onsite training and development for new GETs.
  • Provide support in preparing Well Plans and supervise execution of daily rig operations as per RIL HSE policies and other guidelines.
  • To ensure timely daily reporting (DPRs) and maintaining the drilling and completion database updated.
  • Bring out all critical issues relating to operations and manpower
  • To ensure compliance of all safety requirement as per DGMS & QA/QC for the wells & completion equipment and ensure operations are carried out in environmentally responsible way.
  • Evaluate and monitor the contractor's performance to ensure the improvement of their service and ensure compliance with safety, contractual, procedural and regulatory requirements. Plan with the focus that down hole complications are minimized and assist in liquidating various down hole complications as and when required.


Skills Required (Knowledge and Skills)


  • Experience of Supervising operation.
  • Deviated drilling, UBD, Rig equipment's etc.
  • Valid IWCF-level 4 certificate.


Key Attributes (Experience and Qualifications)


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Petroleum / Mechanical / Engineering
  • 8 - 10 years’ experience in working as Drilling / Sr. Drilling & Completion Engineer in upstream (E&P) Oil/Gas industry. Experience of working in CBM field would be preferred.
