Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned and hands-on Environments and Release Manager to lead the management of test environments, deployment, and release processes for TCS Bancs and associated satellite applications at HDFC Securities. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth functioning development, SIT, UAT, and Pre-Prod environments—ensuring they are available, stable, and optimized to meet both technical and business needs and manage all software release processes, including production deployments. You will coordinate the end-to-end release process, ensuring efficient, timely, and risk-free delivery of updates and new features to the platform.


The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in environment and release management for large-scale, mission-critical platforms (preferably in trading, banking, or similar industries), with a focus on quality, risk management, and process optimization. This role requires someone capable of working across teams, mitigating risks, and leveraging automation to streamline processes, ensuring minimal disruption to the platform’s operations.


While direct experience with TCS Bancs is beneficial, candidates with strong release management backgrounds in other complex financial or trading platforms are equally encouraged to apply.


Responsibilities:


Environment Management

  • Manage and maintain multiple development, test, and production environments for the TCS Bancs Trading Platform.
  • Ensure the availability, performance, and stability of all environments, aligning them with development and operational needs.
  • Plan, provision, and monitor infrastructure capacity to support the platform.
  • Maintain environment configurations, including hardware, software, and application versions.
  • Troubleshoot environment-related issues and work with technical teams to resolve them.


Release Management

  • Own the end-to-end release process, including planning, coordination, and execution of releases for various components of the TCS Bancs platform.
  • Establish, manage, and optimize the release calendar in coordination with stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to change management procedures, ensuring releases are thoroughly tested and approved.
  • Track and report on the status of releases, issues, and risks.


Automation of Release and Deployment Processes

  • Drive the automation of release and deployment processes to reduce manual intervention and increase deployment efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, incorporating automated testing, quality checks, and rollback procedures.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the automation tools and frameworks to streamline the release workflow and ensure scalability.


Cross-functional coordination

  • Liaise with development, QA, infrastructure, and support teams to ensure coordinated efforts across all releases.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that business requirements and project timelines are met without compromising on quality.
  • Communicate release schedules, potential risks, and post-release outcomes to all stakeholders.


Documentation and Compliance

  • Maintain detailed records of all environment configurations, release schedules, deployment procedures, and associated risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external audit requirements.
  • Ensure that appropriate change and release governance processes are followed.


Key Performance Indicators

  • Monitor and report metrics related to environment downtime, failed releases, and deployment issues.
  • Establish early warning systems to identify and mitigate risks associated with software delivery.
  • Ensure timely rollback plans are in place for critical releases.
  • Reduce the risk of release-related outages by implementing best practices in release and change management.


Qualifications, Experience & Expertise

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology, or a related field.
  • Overall 8-12 years of experience with 5+ years of experience in release management, environment management, or similar roles, preferably in the banking or financial services sector.
  • Proficiency in managing environments for large-scale platforms, preferably TCS Bancs or similar trading platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Release Management processes and tools like Jenkins, Bamboo, Octopus, or equivalent CI/CD tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux systems administration and scripting.
  • Experience with DevOps tools and automation techniques for environment provisioning and release management.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git, SVN, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with containerization technologies (Docker/Kubernetes) and virtualization platforms.
  • Strong understanding of database management (Oracle, SQL, etc.) for environment setup and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL framework and Agile/Scrum methodologies.


Location

The role can be based in our offices in Mumbai or Bangalore. We do support flexible timings for fostering a balance between in-person collaboration and the convenience of tailoring work hours to individual needs.
